Is it possible to be effective without inconveniencing any innocent person? What they’re doing is effective.
The violent (BLM/Antifa) element took violent action and got what they wanted. The least violent thing they did was block traffic. And even then, anyone that tried to get past them—whether they understood what was happening or not—ran real risks to their vehicles and themselves.
The non-violent (Canadian truckers) element is taking non-violent action. They are blocking traffic in Ottawa and border crossings with their rigs (and border crossings are part of the government infrastructure, too) and that’s it. Truckers aren’t climbing out of their rigs to offer beatdowns to anyone who tries to make it past them. The most harm they are causing is being inconvenient to government. Even then, they are allowing some traffic through (live stock, emergency responders). ...And you want to varicate over that little?
Both sides taking action is the key.
US cities listened to BLM/Antifa and got police departments defunded—among other privileges. But they used violence and were far worse than being inconvenient.
The truckers are striking over vaccine mandates. They are taking peaceful, non-violent, action by being inconvenient. The Canadian government has noticed. Will they listen to a reasonable argument over the adult individual’s right to take or not take the mRNA “vaccine,” too?
Agreed. I support the objectives 1000%. The pandemic restrictions need to end now.
But I do not support shutting down city streets as BLM and Antifa have done. This penalizes many innocent citizens who agree with the objectives, as well as those who need urgent medical care, mothers giving birth, and people who are just unfortunate to live in the neighborhood.
The bridges are another matter. There has now been plenty of advance warning to travelers and there are other options for the few people who really need to cross (unlike Australia, NZ, Japan and other places where the borders have been closed for months).
“But I do not support shutting down city streets as BLM and Antifa have done. This penalizes many innocent citizens who agree with the objectives, as well as those who need urgent medical care, mothers giving birth, and people who are just unfortunate to live in the neighborhood.”
Why do you think that has happened?
You are seriously misinformed.
Rumor has it that the Peace Bridge in Ft. Erie/Buffalo is on the docket for this weekend.
My understanding is that truckers are blocking government buildings, including some border crossings. They aren’t beating anyone up who tries to get by, to my knowledge. They even let emergency vehicles through.
Otherwise, BLM/Antifa types own the streets if anyone tries to organize a peaceful protest on foot. We know how those go. And government lets them.
The saw is, “We can’t comply our way out of this.” Canadian truckers are taking a lot on their shoulders and are being as peaceful as possible. They’re standing up. They’re also being a bit inconvenient to regular joes but a whole lot nore to their government. To me, that’s about as ideal as it gets among human beings.
Have you not been paying attention or are you really that clueless????
Do you honestly think these guys are doing this for the heck of it, that they have nothing better to do with their time than waste time making a blockade just to annoy people?
Let me guess.
You are just another DU troll.
You are clearly not supportive of ending mandates and gaining our freedom back or you would not be siding against everything this convoy situation is about.
If you want to mask and vax and restrict your freedom, have at it. Just count me out and don’t demand I join you in your quest for slavery to the government.
If you look at the daily videos like Ottawalks, you’ll see that the truckers have not paralyzed the city streets. Many are fully open and several have a lane open so that people can get by. It’s an inconvenience to some, but it’s more like a construction area with some streets closed and some with limited access. Emergency vehicles are not impeded.
YES. And gratitude. 🇨🇦 🇺🇸
They *are* blocking their southern border!
“you would not be siding against everything this convoy situation is about.”

If it’s about blocking roads so citizens can’t get from point A to B, then - yup, that’s not exactly a noble goal to my thinking. Average work-a-day people have a hard enough time in life already without adding to it. Incredibly bad PR.
Regardless, the BLM got everything it wanted. Learn the lesson.
Submit if you want.
Count me out. You are aiding and abetting with the enemy with your posts.
Imagine if the Founding Fathers felt the same way and whined because they couldn’t “get from Point A to Point B”. Overall liberty was the primary goal and they suffered a bit of inconvenience, I’d say.
“people have a hard enough time in life already”. Poor baby.
Great news. I trust plenty of democrat taliban party voters suffer because of these blockades.
“You act as if they had been against BLM to begin with and suddenly came around on a dime. “
No one votes for flat-out crazies or stooges for BLM/Antifa, BTW, and you know it. They campaign as “moderates” and turn when they take their oath. We have our own brand called RINOs.
To each their own. For me freedom is more important than having maybe one less interruption in the Super Bowl. You can always sip a beer and have some nachos while the players are kneeling and the news anchors are pontificating between plays.
Do you get upset about the commercials and the half time show too?
