“Democrats are the new Confederates.”
I have news for you, Mr. Root: Democrats were the old Confederates, too.
Unlike today’s Democrats, there were some good people fighting for the confederates.
Command-and-control regimes have similarities, no matter when or where they have occurred before in history. The absolute power of ancient kings, is not different in many ways from the brutal oppression that exists today in North Korea, or Venezuela, or even Australia, where individuals are imprisoned either in internment camps or their own domiciles, freedom of movement and thought strictly regulated, and little if any economic opportunity afforded to any but a favored few.
Oh, they style themselves as being “for the people” or for “the greater good of all”, but being detained for any or all reasons, or no reason at all. Liberty of the individual is anathema and at the very least is the subject of shame, if not reason for annihilation of the divergent thinker altogether.
Some people cannot stand prosperity, and if there is not enough adversity in people’s lives, they have to go out and invent some.
Hmmm...I think I like the dumblecrats as Nazis meme better...
The left will only use it to further demonize the Founding Fathers and America as a whole.
“A people unwilling to use extreme violent force to obtain or secure their liberty deserves the tyrants that rule them.”
This is no different than the CDC using the term “y’all” as a way to disparage those who don’t accept their advice on the use of alternate treatments for covid-1984.
There was nothing wrong with the Conversate South. Misguided maybe but not evil and comparison to democrats is as bad as deplorables.
Yeah yeah.....
One of the many issues leading up to the Civil War was the Northern states were getting a free ride from the taxation of the South because federal taxes were imposed on exports.
Mr Root needs to understand that the Civil War is called the War of Northern Aggression by half of the participants for a reason.
Simply writing the war off as a response to slavery would require a similar belief that the Revolutionary War was fought over a boatload of tea.
In that case, can we just get on with Pickett’s Charge Parte Deux????
Ummmm, the South was invaded!!! All of my folks were fighting to protect their families and homes!! The Evil came from the murdering Hords released on the South from the North!
Yep!
Great response
QFT: “Simply writing the war off as a response to slavery would require a similar belief that the Revolutionary War was fought over a boatload of tea.”
Right on the mark - those who “simplify” such historical events are typically simpletons who can’t wrap their head around the complex. Wayne Allen Root regularly shows himself out as Exhibit A for this observation, IMO.
Enough is enough. Americans need to start standing up for our Republic. If the RATS want a “democracy”, they can take that sh*t somewhere else. South of the border is into that commie crap.
The victory of Lincoln and the Unuon has led us to the overbearing Federal government we have now. Slavery was a minor issue, not the root cause of the war.
Couldn’t he just have said the Dems were the evil ones? Why slam southerners?
