Humans are by nature omnivores. It has been argued that eating meat made humans, humans. Meat eating made humans out of apes. Meat eaters are by nature smarter as they need to outsmart the prey.
Anyway, there are animal based proteins, which we need, and cannot get from plants. Vegan deprive themselves and suffer from that. E.G., lot of medications list veganism as major contraindication.
Most now take artificial supplement to get them, but that will not help 100%.
For that reason, over the history of humanity, there were never dedicated vegans, veganism is the product of PETA philosophy.
Vegetarians usually get these proteins from milk and that seems OK. There are a lot of healthy vegetarians, mostly in India.
Pass the bacon.
