My Granddaughter is in Arvada.
Our son was outdoors at a higher elevation on the western side of Boulder and saw the beginnings of the fires near Superior. He spoke with a police officer nearby who let him know that it was initiated by a downed power line. The area has been extremely dry and has high winds. Power outages have been ongoing all day, tree limbs are down, trash cans pushed around, etc. Fire containment is difficult with the high winds.
Update: Several apartment complexes in Broomfield have been put on evacuation notice.

This was Kansas last week. 100,000 acres burned in less than 2 hrs.
One of our kids lives in Boulder.
Ours too. Fortunately he’s to the northwest of Louisville and Superior, but more fires can start. It’s going to be a long night for us all. Prayers for you and yours.
Praying for your daughter and her friends.
Many homes (new fires) still burning on the live feeds
Yes. Lots of heartbreak.
Thanks. We just talked to him. His mother told him to get a full tank of gas and go see his brother in Fort Collins.

Darn double post. It figures. They are twins!
Good to have a brother to go to. Our son is bound to have friends of friends but mostly near CU, like him.
more home still burning

Nothing unusual about that.
What is unusual is that it hasn’t snowed yet this season.
