As their support slips among blacks and Hispanics, they are trying to make up the difference with young people with little or no life experience.

**Voted for Jimmy Cater - like the idiot I was back then.**

Ah yes, 1976, I was still uninformed at 22, and in some ways an idiot (such as understanding the young women that I dated), when I registered Democrat at the behest of a neighborhood farmer.

He was good guy, a family man, patriotic, hard worker, etc. But, he liked government involved with agriculture.

I didn’t vote in the 76 IL primary. At the general election I voted straight Republican. I crossed over at the 78 mi-term.
The neighbor found out and asked me why. I told him that Jimmah’s first two years showed that the Dems were not as patriotic as the Repubs, and that the Zbigniew Brzinsky dude struck me as an un-American creep.

I know I was less informed and more immature at 18, so I’m glad I couldn’t vote then (72).

Give illegals the vote.
Give convicted criminals the vote.
Give permanent residents the vote.
Give tourists the vote.
Give all foreign nationals the vote.
Give all English-speaking humans the vote.
And on, and on, and on....
And why not?

” many 16- and 17-year-old Americans have proven that they possess the social responsibility and political maturity to help elect better leaders.”

Uh, no they haven’t. Some have, but as time passes that number has consistently dropped as a percentage of that age cohort.

Besides, this is just another Dem ploy to keep winning elections. When they cannot win, they cheat. When they sense that the cheating won’t be enough (like now) they try to change the rules by letting non-citizens vote, changing the registration requirements, extending voting by weeks, try to add states, try to expand the Supreme Court, etc., etc. They just cannot stomach the idea that the American public rejects them...and, of course, changing their fanciful, utterly impractical ideas is off the table. They just want power.

I teach at the university level and every class proves to me that the voting age should be changed to at least 25.

“If it were up to me I might move the voting age up to 25 or 30.”

Me too.

Senators: minimum age: 30, 9 years a citizen

House of Representatives age: 25, 7 years a citizen

I am for the opposite.

Move the voting age back to 21, except for active duty members of the military under 21. I’d say if you are under 21 and putting your life potentially on the line for your country then you’d get to vote before you are 21, otherwise you wait until 21.

“How many 25 or 30 year olds have the same priorities they had at 16 or 17?”

Unfortunately, many of today’s 25 year olds are the equivalent of 15 year olds a couple decades ago.
