Depends on the amount of SS you get each month. If you’re getting $1000/mo, you would get a $59/mo raise vs the $22/mo rise in the Medicare premium.

Part D is outpatient Rx drugs.

Part B covers a lot of inpatient & office administered drugs.

>>The Medicare Part B drug payment system is used by Medicare to reimburse health care providers for the average costs of the drugs they administer when providing outpatient services to Medicare beneficiaries. Reimbursement to individual providers is based on a formula computed from national sales data, not on the price paid by a specific provider.<<

By my old school math, this is a net loss to seniors of 7.1%.

Way to go, Brandon.

"The increase in the Part B premium for 2022 is continued evidence that rising drug costs threaten the affordability and sustainability of the Medicare program,” Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, administrator of the agency, said in a statement."

That is pure B.S. Drugs are only a very very very limited part of Medicare Part B. The vast majority of Medicare covered prescription drug costs are in Medicare Part D. If Medicare Part B premium needs to rise it is due to the costs of the major things Medicare Part B covers - Ambulance services, Durable medical equipment (DME), Mental health, Inpatient services, Outpatient services, Partial hospitalization.

I was waiting for some poster to “get it”, and some folks got close, but what we are looking at is true inflationary psychology.

The government is saying we _expect_ _our_ costs to go up in the future by (approx.) 15%.

We are going to give _you_ an increase of 6%.

The problem is that _everyone_ tries to f&^% over everyone else in the land of inflation....

and this is a great example of how it works.
