2 Is General Miley saying that our current defenses are incapable of dealing with hypersonic weapons or that no system is?
3. A lot of our missile defense technology is old. The Aegis system was created in the 1970s. Many of our Ticonderoga cruisers have analogue systems and computers from the 1980s. The US Navy needs to upgrade our newer Ticonderoga Cruisers and our older Arleigh Burke destroyers, even as the Flight III Arleigh Burke destroyers are built with the AN/SPY-6 Radar and the new Aegis Baseline 10 systems. Both Raytheon, which produces the AN/SPY-6 and Lockheed, which makes the AN/SPY-7 want to do this. Instead, we are planning to retire the cruisers and destroyers and build score of less capable frigates.
