Ted Cruz wants Texas to SECEDE if 'things become hopeless' in the US

Texas can't keep the heat on in the winter and the air conditioning on in the summer. If they leave and their grid goes belly-up again then who are they going to go to for disaster and financial assistance?

Would it be a secession if Texas was annexed? Would it be a de-annexation?

Most of the U.S. was annexed in one form or another. If Texas, or any other state, leaves then it's secession.

It won’t be just Texas.

Exactly what I was thinking. And it won’t only be States in the South either.

I suspect Cruz would insist that it be done by amending the constitution rather than war.

Good luck finding 38 states to ratify.

God forbid that we can’t settle our differences peacefully.

That has already been proven.

I agree. I hope he is genuine, and not playing the wind of politics. We're moving south in a couple of years, can't wait. Btw, perfect tagline. Cheers.

We certainly do not have to worry about the US military.

“No - the Supremes said so”

Well then John aka Santiago Roberts can try to come and take the state back.

I hope everyone here has looked at the TEXIT website. www.tnm.me

It’s a real deal. They are serious, organized and pretty damned smart.

Go look at the Q&A, for the inevitable questions that we all have.

Oh, and, Ted, it’s not “if” any more. We’re way past that.

“how will your state make up what it gets from Fedzilla?”

Wrong “how will”. Try: “How will Fedzilla make up the oil and gas it gets from Texas?”.

Yep, their side is moving on all fronts...our side is looking for our socks while occasionally throwing spitballs.

Right now...no contest.

IT WAS THE FEDS THAT SCREWED TEXAS OVER DURING FHE FREEZE.

If Abbott just cranked up the power we had there would not have been a big mess. THE EPA SAID NO!

Texas is going to stop selling oil and gas? If not the the rest of the U.S. will continue to buy it just like they do now.

This is actually similar to what happened before the American Revolution.

One side did a whole bunch of bad stuff and the other side did very little for a long time.

The list of the bad stuff became the Declaration of Independence.

It does not matter who begins the fight—what matters is who finishes it.

Texas screwed themselves over.

Of course they did.

Is there not a provision from the beginning of Texas’ statehood that they could leave the union at any point they wish?

That got signed away at reconstruction. Ditoo the splitting into five states.

The current U.S. ilitary is “woke”. This isn’t the Cold War era military George H.W. Bush inherited during the Persian Gulf War.

“is anyone suffering from the delusion that the federal government would allow them to have nuclear weapons, a portion of the current military services, troops, equipment, aircraft, pilots, carriers, submarines?”

Those are classified as cannons in Texas. We have a history of keeping those.
