“Defense spending is 4% of GDP.
Healthcare spending is 17.7% of GDP.”
If you add spending for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Homeland Security, and Veteran’s Affairs, it’s closer to 6% of GDP.
Also
You are one of the orignal “hate the GOP always” proapganda bots here.
You got what you wanted. The Government is now controlled by you Democrat Party masters. Why are you crying about what you worked so hard to create?
It is a big deal. A huge deal.
Just as when Trump did it.
We are right now running in the air like that old Wile E Coyote.
“They are just declining to vote to “authorize[] by law” more debt.”
Not quite. They are declining to guarantee they will pay the interest on the debt just authorized.
This has nothing to do with new debt, this debt was already authorized by congress in the continuing spending resolution.
I remember when Republicans first gained control of both houses under GW Bush. They spent so much the Democrats were able to run as fiscal conservatives, and they have done the same thing every time they had the chance. Both parties are full of thieves.
“About 71% of the Federal budget goes to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Another 15% goes to the military, and 6% is used to pay interest on the debt. None of this was Trump’s idea. This spending has been fixed for at least two decades.”
If we cut 50% of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Military every year for the next decade.
Would this help or hurt our National Debt position?
Also would it stop the inflation that so many Freepers seem concerned about?
P.S. Anti Trump Freepers are “suckers and losers.”
How do you define ‘Entitlements’?
Some people use that word as a pejorative, dishonestly.
When it comes to feeding at the trough, or taking care of constituents, everyone in both parties if of the same religion, to paraphrase Voltaire
I don’t think that analogy fits. They’re seeking to run the credit card up, too. they’re just mad that the last guy charged it to the limit.
Yeah, the Republicans have no moral high ground on spending, not since the 90s at least. All but a handful happily feed at the trough.
It’s over, you can stop worrying for a short time now:
“Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Wednesday agreed to allow a short-term debt ceiling extension.”
Democrats...Credit Card is maxxed out. Gonna have to get a
second credit card!
I'm still waiting for a stadium full of people to start chanting "**** Donald Trump".
“If we cut 50% of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid...”
Well, China’s working on that for us, with their biowarfare division.
“They’re seeking to run the credit card up, too. they’re just mad that the last guy charged it to the limit.”
Now that we never pass an annual budget, we hit our own imposed limit about 3 times a year. We already authorized the spending, now we agree to pay the interest on the debt we already authorized.
And we just agreed. This one is over, but it will be back soon because we never pass a budget.
How about cutting spending and programs like you did with closing rest stops and cutting DMV hours in Va when you were Gov, Timmy? What an a-hole.
Take a minute there Sparky and read the title of the article, the REPUBLICANS. Can you try to stay on subject here? Of course, a GOP stooge will jump the gun every time in their zeal to protect their DC Uniparty (R) Swamp masters.
Default is not allowed by Constitution and established laws. Payment on the debt carries the highest priority for payment, followed by SS, government pensions and such. They just don’t want to stop (or reduce) ALL the OTHER spending.
“Well, China’s working on that for us, with their biowarfare division.”
So old people never die and Social Security & Medicare aren’t inflationary.
Got it. Thanks.
Funny because Nancy Pelosi’s “I Control the purse strings” quote keeps echoing in my head every time I see this charge made that Trump is responsible for all the debt incurred during his term... I wish I could find it on video.
