The execrable Lancet has not been a “medical journal” for decades.
It is a political advocacy rag. And that is it.
And, it’s a pretty crappy bioweapon, if that’s what it is.
I beg to differ. It may not have the outright killing power of a true “bio weapon” but it was very powerful none the less. It removed the one obstacle to China obtaining more power on the world stage, Trump. It threw the entire planet into a tizzy that allowed the globalist oligarchs to obtain a great deal of control. It’s providing cover for the communist takeover of the USA. It’s enriching the crony capitalists that fund the commies in power. It’s crushing the middle class and small business (the true counter to the globalists), and it has opposing sides at each others throats completely ignoring what the “elites” are doing to reshape the world in their vision.
All this with a mostly survivable flu. No giant pile of bodies to inflame the masses and call for the destruction of China or a popular uprising that galvanizes everyone together. Just chaos and division I’d say as a weapon it’s been a resounding success.
That's why a lot of people believe it prematurely escaped or was deliberately released (an act of spite to get back at an abusive boss, a staffer desperate to feed his family by selling end of experiment lab animals, for examples).
If it were a approved deliberate release it wouldn't have been done until there was an effective vaccine, and it sure as heck wouldn't have happened on the lab's doorstep!!!

Population Research Institute President Steven W. Mosher wrote at the New York Post on Saturday that Chinaās coronavirus epidemic could have been unleashed by researchers who sold laboratory animals to the notorious āwet marketsā of Wuhan for extra cash.
The novel twist to Mosherās theory is that Chinese lab technicians have an unfortunate history of selling experimental animals to vendors such as the ones that ply their trade in Wuhanās wet market:
Instead of properly disposing of infected animals by cremation, as the law requires, they sell them on the side to make a little extra cash. Or, in some cases, a lot of extra cash. One Beijing researcher, now in jail, made a million dollars selling his monkeys and rats on the live animal market, where they eventually wound up in someoneās stomach.
"On January 19, 2020, a man who had returned home to Snohomish County, Washington near Seattle on January 15, after traveling to Wuhan, checked into an urgent care clinic after seeing reports about the outbreak.Experiencing a cough, fever, nausea and vomiting, the Centers for Disease Control announced on January 21 that the 35-year-old had tested positive for COVID-19. He was hospitalized, where his condition grew worse and he developed pneumonia. His symptoms abated 10 days later.
The Lancet went corrupt when they backed the transgender crappola. Trust them as much as you would AP or Rueters.

But the CCP strategy was not a sudden and unmistakable first strike in a kinetic war. Their strategy is grounded in political objectives by extraordinary means. Thus, realizing that they couldn't win a "WAR-war" [Whoopi Goldberg] against the US with Trump in the White House, they released the virus AGAINST THE ENTIRE PLANET, making the location of the release a moot point - share and share alike.

The end game is to facilitate the invasion of the US, which is happening right now and to take America down - AFTER humiliating us in Afghanistan, and adding a quarter million Afghans to the invasion. (250,000 is the number that AOC demanded be brought in from Afghanistan, which she'll probably get, but not in her home district.)
They view it as playing the long game... but not all that long... Some say by 2030, one is beginning to think those who say that are onto something.

The Lancet? Really? The Titanic of medical journals.
Virology researchers (some of them) have been on about dangerous pathogens research, both for vaccine development AND because their job is expanding knowledge, for decades.
The thing which (probably) created SARS CoV 2, gain of function (GOF) research, has been a hot topic, and has been hotly debated, for many years.
I have been present at meetings where this issue has polarized the audience between "you can't stop man's search for knowledge" and "you are threatening to destroy the human race".
While CoV GOF research was being fought over in the US, the influenza people were digging up frozen corpses in the high Arctic to revive the 1918 pandemic flu virus, and faced identical arguments.
Anyway, the US GOF people lost the argument, and bat coronavirus manipulation was stopped in the US in (I think) 2017.
This is where the China story begins.
SOMETHING happened, along the lines of NIH appropriated but not spent money went to North Carolina, and from there to Wuhan. Scientists went from Canada to Wuhan as part of this scenario.
Bat coronavirus GOF research (apparently) resumed at the Wuhan Institute, where biodefense against SARS was already a major work area.
Then, something bad happened.
If you have been inside one of these labs, cross-contamination or accidental worker infection is very, very easy to imagine. Given the nature of SARS CoV 2, one infected worker in October 2109 would have been more than enough to produce the observed results.
All this is straightforward, fits the known facts, fits the timeline, and explains the coverup HERE AND THERE. Can you imagine being the bureaucrat who signed off on the cutout path through North Carolina? If THAT ever becomes public record, you are off to the dreaded private sector, or worse. The guys on the Wuhan end are probably already dead.
Chinese GOVERNMENT organized release is an additional layer on the cake. Possible, but unnecessary.
Also, the timing was perfect to incriminate the CCP in collaboration with our own Communists.

It wasn't in a ready to use form (no vaccine).
It first appeared 'in the wild' on the doorstep of the lab working on it.
A deliberate release would have likely occurred in the southern resource zone, that southern zone where China is most busy looking for mineral resources, agrcurtural output and most vitally, unoccupied land, Lebensraum, for half a billion or so Chinese.
The problem being, that southern resource zone already has a population. But really, who cares about black Africans...
Thanks Jim for a great reply. A minor quibble; Obama stopped the “gain of function” reaserch in ‘14 or ‘15. One of the only things he did I’ll give him props for. Fauci sidestepped the ban on federal funding by running a game on a Trump staffer and then through a cutout reestablished the funding stream.
That said, you have a tough row to hoe to convince me this wasn’t a deliberate act. Trump had Xi in a box with sanctions, the globalist were desperate, Pelosi is an insane monster desperate to get ride of Trump and install her kind of communism in this country to destroy it. Too many coincidences for me to buy the “accident” theory (remember 2008). Somebody had to finish the job Obama started and keep blame from him.

To be so deft that you could exfiltrate the virus, bypass all the safety steps, evade detection, stay safe, and then infect somebody outside - that could happen, of course, but all of that is completely unnecessary to explain the observed facts when "oops" is always and everywhere more common.
You believe what you believe, I surmise, because of whet you believe about CHINA, not because of what you believe about lab safety and GOF research.
Everyone forgets that theses virus were not considered very dangerous so they were doing a lot of research in less secure facilities. Including bsl 2 and 3 labs
You’re right, simple is better. Now explain to my why China locked it’s own people indoors, ripped up roads and had armed military everywhere keeping people locked down yet was still allowing flights to the west.
Now explain to me why we here at the FreeRepublic knew it late January this virus was a major threat yet Nancy Pelosi was marching around San Francisco’s Chinatown maskless proclaiming “no big deal”, Deblasio was marching around NYC proclaiming the same thing, and Anthony Fauci was bald face lying to us about masks.
This was all done during a time when Donald Trump was trying to shut down traffic between infected countries and the U.S. All the while being called every name in the book and having activist judges undermining his orders.

I suspect that that COVID-19 originated from Fauci-funded research at the Wuhan lab, and I think it is, by far, the strongest hypothesis of origin. However, I think your belief that a worker smuggled a test animal out for sale in a wet market is extraordinarily unlikely.
I’ve traveled in China for decades and have spent months there. I have very close friends who live there. The candidate “test animals” would be either horseshoe bats or so-called “humanized” mice. Neither of these animals would be sold in the Wuhan wet market, which is essentially a farmers’ market where both meat and vegetables are sold. The horseshoe bat is a microbat that weighs just 1/2 of an ounce; it simply is not the sort of bat that people would sell in a market. There are much larger fruit bats that are sold in some Asian markets, but even these are not popular in Hubei Province. Mice are not sold in markets their either. If one goes on a trek in remote regions of Asia, one may encounter hill tribesmen who eat small rodents and bats, but they simply are not commercial items. Wet markets are common all over Asia, not just China, and they deal in commercial agricultural products. Some of these are very weird to an American, but they don’t include microbats and mice.
It’s not impossible that an employee acted on a hare-brained scheme to supplement his income, but a much, much simpler explanation is that an employee got infected by a highly contagious pathogen that was engineered in the lab.
