But seriously, I wish they’d provide separate counts for breakthrough cases by the TYPE OF VACCINE. Based upon this summer’s Mayo Clinic comparison of recent (i.e., DELTA variant) breakthrough cases by type of vaccine maybe they’re trying to protect one (cough… cough…Pfizer) of the vaccine’s reputation.
Per CNN, the new CDC data suggests that 70% of the breakthrough cases that led to hospitalizations are among those 65 and older?????
In nursing homes and facilities (if you have just a fever)
#####these numbers suggest you have a 1 in 13,000 chance of getting a severe breakthrough cases of COVID-19 if you’re fully vaccinated.#######
I see what they did there. They’ll count breakthrough cases based on all people vaccinated but count Covid deaths only on those tested to have Covid. Meaning, if all 170 million were exposed and only 13000 died that’s a success. But if only 1 million were exposed and 13,000 died then that would not be a success at all.
If efficacy in the elderly isn’t as good, that wouldn’t surprise me.
The question is can we trust ANY info the CDC puts out.
CNN needs a 100% breakthrough
I wonder how old the data was that they were using? Does it still hold with Delta variant? If still 1 in 13,000 chance of getting severe breakthrough, then I really don’t understand the hesitancy to get the vaccine. I still don’t believe in the mandates.
While I put little faith in CNN and/or the New York Times, our local hospital data indicates the non-vaccinated are the vast majority of hospitalizations for Covid. My 97 year old father in law is in the local Veterans Home here and all patients and staff are tested twice weekly. The bi-weekly reports I receive on my phone have been indicating one or two cases of Covid among the staff and no infections in the vaccinated residents. This has been the case for a couple of months. Nursing home assistants are low paid and young. Among them are many that are not vaccinated.
Ha, and thats why I lied and just walked in and got the Moderna booster at my 6 month mark
Publix appt, click immuno 3rd shot, no form with health condition questions, no questions asked
Same as first two after effects, mild arm soreness, slight fever for a day, thats it.
Preventive medicine, game it
LOL! CDC? NYT? Don’t forget Snopes! LMAO!
I agree with you. We should know which vaccine(s) are the issue and which might actually work.
“Here’s one way to think about a 1-in-10,000 daily chance: It would take more than three months for the combined risk to reach just 1%,” according to The New York Times.

Someone doesn’t understand probabilities. A 1-in-1000 daily chance is always a 1-in-1000 daily chance. It’s like flipping a penny. Every flip is a 50-50 chance of “heads”.
“maybe they’re trying to protect one (cough… cough…Pfizer) of the vaccine’s reputation.”
Yes, the one that is fully approved by the FDA works the least well and is the one that will be used to fulfill the vaccination mandates because they can’t mandate the ones that are still EUA.
The smell of rotting fish is overwhelming.
Too bad the courts are as corrupt as the rest of the government. There will be no justice to be had through lawsuits.
In answer to your question, I really and objectively don’t see how we can.
The CDC has consistantly lied, fudged data, and they have now even changed the very definition of the meaning of “vaccine”. They have zero credibility. Their primary mission appears to be to politically assist Democrats through whatever means necessary.

I’m talking about Cuomo’s doing and other stories.
Of course the older you get the less immunity you have. I’ll take my chances.
Already know hubby and I have antibodies. I don’t trust the people behind any mandatory rules.
That’s the whole problem with CoupFlu.
There’s no way to have informed consent.
We’ve been lied to by too many about too much.
The very fact that you find it necessary to ask that question is an answer in and of itself.
100% of the breakthrough cases were vaccinated.
The significant adverse effects always seem to be Pfizer, too.
Why don’t they break them down according to vaccine administered? Pfizer compared to Moderna compared to J&J .. would one of those come off looking bad?
