Kind of like what I’ve been seeing here for awhile now. My little town IGA looks like my city should be called Ocean Shores, Venezuela. Go into any RiteAid pharmacy in the Soviet of Washington and you’ll see over half of the shelving empty, (the shelving left that had not already been removed) and refrigerated and freezer sections shutdown due to lack of maintenance.

We certainly have some serious opportunities here to ease our dependency on foreign made goods if we had competent leadership that would GTFOOTW and let us do what patriot Americans do. The question is are we ready to do the heavy lifting required to fix this problem?

I was in Havana in the early ‘90s, just after the Soviets and East Germans pulled out. It was much worse then, rather like the first or second circle of Hell. There was absolutely no traffic except cabs for foreigners and large busses pulled by industrial tractors. Electricity was available for only a few hours a day except at The Riviera, a hotel where all visitors stayed.

Everyone except for the police, snitches, and the military were scrawny. The only food stores I saw had just a few cans of condensed milk. Each block was controlled by neighborhood snitch. The only people the snitches were afraid of were the Santeria priestesses, with their white turbans.

I saw fifteen or twenty people living in each of those Miramar row houses. Typically one family per room. I quickly learned not to let my gaze settle on anything, for if it did, the owner would insist on selling it to me. The most precious family heirlooms, including old pictures, were no exception.

BTW, the Tropicana is an outdoor venue. That’s not generally known, if you haven’t been there.

That grocery store is better stocked than our local HEB (Southern chain). I’ve been posting this for years. Had to actually make what amounted to an illegal drug deal with the guy in the back for some frozen fish. Yes, entire aisles of one product - mainly Whataburger brand mustard (why?). People will either beg you for the gallon of milk in your cart or outright steal it and this definitely not a ghetto. Fresh strawberries have grown mold by the time you get to the cashier and potatoes are rotten.

When covid hit, I finally gave up and am now driving 4 towns over to Walmart to shop. There are still limits at WM today and can’t certain products like ice cream and yeast and the produce stinks.

This is the comment I left for the video:

Kinda shameful that the alternative to the tyranny of Bautista’s crypto-Nazi mafia police state is just another tyranny. The Cuban revolution happened FOR A REASON. If CIA crapitalism throughout the 3rd World results in chronic attempts at insurrection which we beat down with all the grace of a Reinhardt Heydrich, maybe a bit of introspection is in order. This is not a chicken/egg conundrum. First there is repression, then there is revolution. It goes like that, A leads to B. BANKS, BANKERS, BANKING. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDlnM481Gcg

I watched most of that video this afternoon! Long, but fascinating and eye-opening! Just wow. Should be required watching for all here. Fantastic!
