I'm sure the Blackhawks will wind up in China where they'll look at all of the advanced avionics (stuff like automated flight control, integrated self defense, navigation systems, computerized engine monitoring systems, etc.). It'll be a goldmine.

Because they were not in our possession. The assets were given to the Afghan National Army over the years to equip them. The Taliban captured them from the Afghans.
These "we left stuff behind" posts are getting old. It doesn't take much work to figure out what happened.
So, we didn’t leave Bagram airbase behind either? Okay yeah right uh huh sure. Blackhawks are so difficult to locate. Yup.
Either way. We should have had a contingency plan. They got lazy.

Why were the mountains of weapons left?
Instead of:
Why not carefully plan over a certain period to 1) evacuate Americans and those who assist them and then
2) account for weapons, equipment, vehicles and ammo, especially high tech and pull them out as you phase the military personnel out.
3) Add to security and support as you get the last American military service people out of Afghanistan.
4) If the US Embassy is still to be open then fortify it and have troops to defend it.

SuperTucanos are pretty cool. They look like an evolution of the Stuka without the gull wings.
I wonder what they’ll keep and what they’ll sell? None of that stuff can be cheap to maintain and fly.
I don’t know how the Afghans distributed their Blackhawks. I do know they were in Mazar-i-Sharif and Kandahar which fell long before Bagram and Kabul. We took anything deemed “heavy” out of Bagram.
