Just use the numbers. In Mass, there were 10,000 breakthrough cases out of 4.4 milllion vaccinated, or 0.2% Before that there were 10% cases. Apples to apples since at least 3 times more infections are unreported as cases for both numbers. However the prior numbers are over a year of exposure and the vaccines have had 3-5 months exposure. Still, the case rate per capita is much lower with vaccines.
But as I will say again: if vaccinated people take risks and get COVID, then they are in the same boat as unvaccinated. Vaccination does not lower the severity of the disease.

We found that severity of COVID-19 (both number of symptoms in the first week of infection, and need for hospitalisation) and duration was lower in vaccinated compared to unvaccinated individuals. Our data would suggest that this may relate to increased risk of post-vaccination infection in older people who are frail.
