The North Vietnamese regime got what they wanted. That is all of their country, plus international recognition. That secured, their war is over.

The Taliban war aim is what?

And democrats controlled the purse strings. One of Biden’s first votes as a Senator was a no vote on more money to S. Vietnam for military equipment and assistance to get Americans and our Vietnam allies out of the country which Ford wanted. Vietnam did not get the funding.

In 2010, Biden reportedly told Richard Holbrooke... that the US had to leave Afghanistan regardless of the cost for the Afghan people... he scornfully replied by referencing the US exit from southeast Asia in 1973.
IOW, Biden started the practice of comparing the current fiasco with Saigon, and knew all about the consequences beforehand. The Demagogic Party majority in both houses of Congress cut aid to The Republic of Vietnam, which contributed to the collapse. This Demagogic Party majority won't make that mistake -- they'll vote to give aid to the Taliban, part of 'reparations.'

Nixon was out before 1975. Ford owned it after Congress refused funding to S Vietnam. Oh, Biden a senator then and voted against funding.

This infantry and armor Vietnam combat vet would like to issue a forlorn welcome to the club to all of my contemporary veteran comrades. But in the case of South Vietnam, they DID fight fairly effectively for over 3 years after the last US combat units were withdrawn, until their logistical train was cut due to Democrat (is there a pattern here?) machinations in the wake of Watergate and Richard Nixon. They smashed and repelled the NVA’s 1972 Easter Invasion quite handily, with US air support. Remember, a black clad guerilla Army did NOT seize and flatten the gates of the Presidential palace in Saigon. It was T-54, and T-55/T-59 tanks lavishly supplied by the Soviet Union and Red China, It is very difficult to defend against an armor led blitzkrieg when your artillery firing batteries are rationed to 10 rounds a day, and your aircraft can’t fly due to lack of fuel and spare parts.

Now, we have a senile old DEMONRAT goat as POTUS, with an utterly inept and inadequate plan for withdrawal from Afghanistan, as he pitifully begs the Taliban to not damage US soil in the form of the US Embassy whenever they seize Kabul, as they leave a treasure trove of first line US equipment for them to seize.

There is no real comparison to relatively orderly withdrawal of US combat forces from South Vietnam, other than the role of the DEMONRATS as they ultimately undermined both countries, no matter how many ways they attempt to falsely analogize it.

Throughout the Trump administration, the DailyMail could not say enough bad about Trump and Melania, nor enough gushing adoration of the Obamas.

it’s a damn shame they cried such wolf, when faced now with the ugly truth of the Democrat globalists’ inhumane agenda. DM completely eroded its own credibiiity.

It’s giving me cognitive dissonance to read them appearing to criticize Biden, no matter how much he deserves it, because of all that they did before.
