Most of the equipment that was given to the Afghan Army was not our latest and greatest. Basically anything truly cutting edge or significant military equipment (crypto etc) was removed and returned to us. Even the aircraft are mostly platforms that we were planning to retire and older versions.
I was thinking there must be a person or group in charge behind the scenes but at this point I’m thinking no one is i charge. The generals apparently knew this would be a disaster and did it anyway because a senile corrupt idiot traitor said so????

I think you have a valid point. On occasion, he can sort of answer a few questions, which indicates he still has some comprehension of what is going on but otherwise Soli relies on notecards and teleprompters. If you tried to get him off-topic, By asking questions on related to watch the speech was about, I suspect he would have a much harder time answering.
Couldn’t a few cruise missiles take care of this problem? We know where they’re parked.
The Taliban have the leverage. All they have to do is block the runways somehow. They don’t even need to attack. Place lots of junk there or mines. Then all our people are at their mercy.
