Where is the data showing the ethnic-demographic breakdown of the Orange county, 45th district vote?
It seems to me Orange County GOPs problem is the “independents”, which are now about 35% of the registered population, and the GOP must win over those voters to makeup for their current registration deficit with Dims.
Being “independent” they are most likely more Libertarian than social Conservatives, if they are Conservative. Maybe the problem is GOP candidates that can appeal to the independents do not appeal to enough in the GOP, so such a GOP person does not get the most GOP votes in the primary. Then in the general election the remaining lead GOP candidate is not helped “over the top” with independents in Orange county.
Was Katie Porter’s GOP opponent a Trump or Rand Paul type on the policy issues they emphasized in the campaign?
