This of course is never a component in the discussion.
My resort town of 27000 people had one death from Covid last summer. More people drowned.
You had better hope we can vaccinate our way out of this.
That’s what we did to eliminate smallpox, btw.
If we keep this up and it mutates just a bit toward a higher lethality, the progressive dream of rewilding is going to become a new way of life.
It already has viral load and Ro mutations in place.
“Why would you be freaking out because they used 2500% instead of 26, when they are both correct?”
Easy there SJ. I’m hardly “freaking out”, as you put it. I believe they are in a panic to sell their fear porn bs and in there panic they are being totally obvious in their bias.
My position on the vax is it is an individual choice so I neither advocate for or against. My peronal choice is not to take it as I have not taken any flu shot in my memory.
It was never ever claimed that the vaccines prevented covid.
Never.
Btw, all vaccines, esp recombinant, choose a highly antigenic target.
“They have brown skin. Covid is a racist virus.
WOW!!! And since it was created in China that makes the Chinese racist and since they are Asian that makes all Asians racist and that answers the question of why blacks are beating up Asians here in America.
CV19 virus is the first virus to get intense social media attention, correction welcome. So why aren’t we hearing about loss of taste and smell symptoms like we were last year, people now ostrasized for merely testing positive, the tests possibly rigged anyway.
In other words, are CV19 statistics basically indistinguishable from the seasonable flu that we’ve learned to ignore?
In fact, since you have to get infected with a virus in order to make natural herd immunity work in my non-medical opinion, a positive CV19 test with no loss of taste or smell may simply mean that your natural herd immunity is protecting you.
Insights welcome.
I just looked at the Worldometer graphs for Gibralter: It looks like an average of about 25 new cases PER DAY, for the last three-to-four weeks, with one new death. The new cases are now SLIGHTLY trending down, so they may have reached the peak.
“On December 11, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued the first emergency use authorization (EUA) for a vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in individuals 16 years of age and older.”

I’m waiting to see what comes out of Lollapalooza, there were 350,000 attending this past week.
Possibly.
The vaccine is supposed to create a spike protein for your body to learn how to fight. What if the end result is that it teaches your body to actually create a virus that avoids detection by your immune system?
You have 300,000,000,000,000 little viruses running around in your body right now. Your natural immune system keeps them at bay. So the same people who created this deadly virus in a lab are the ones who are jabbing you with the “cure.” But nobody knows the long term effects of the “cure” other than the fact that it really doesn’t cure anything.
Such hype for the snowflakes. I am to the point where I believe there are many more snowflakes than common-sense people.
In spite of all the science..we are all just lab bat in a cage?
So new cases went up to an average of 31 per day at its peak July 22nd, then dropped back down and continue to drop. This was a small, temporary increase.
Now, the obvious question is "why did it go up at all?". Well, first not everyone is eligible and about 20% of those new cases are among unvaccinated people (mostly younger people). Are those cases serious? Almost certainly not. But they add to the total just the same. For those vaccinated, there are a couple issues which can present. First, anyone who's immuno-compromised (e.g. cancer patients, organ recipients, people with autoimmune disorders, the elderly) are often unable to effectively fight infections regardless of vaccination; they don't have enough of a functioning immune system for it to immediately wipe out anything significant.
Second, the Delta variant has mutations in the N, M, and S proteins. These mutations change the structure (folds) of the proteins such that antibodies created for previous variants don't fit as neatly into place anymore. This means more antibodies need to hit before one can "click" into place to neutralize that particular protein on the virus surface. The more significant those structural changes are, the less likely existing antibodies will neutralize all the surface proteins before the virus can infect a cell.
The important thing to note here is this: prior to their vaccination campaign, Gibraltar racked up one of the highest COVID-19 deaths per 1 million population in the world at 2,821. The population of Gibraltar does NOT do well with COVID-19 infections. They seem to experience far more problems than most with it. Since their mass vaccination campaign, they have had 1 death from COVID. Just 1 COVID-19 death since the middle of March. That makes them one of the least impacted places in the world.
In other words, before vaccination, they were dropping like flies due to COVID-19. After mass vaccinations, they have seen a small number of cases and virtually no deaths. That's a massive turnaround.
That doesn’t make any sense. It’s actually fearmongering nonsense.
Why try to ramp up the baseless fear? Didn’t we get enough of that from the Democrats and the media in 2020? I sure did.
Let’s stick to reality.
The first question should be are the vaccines themselves leading to these spikes?
Good question, but the answer is no. Annual flu causes an average of 36,000 deaths per year in the US. In 2020, overall deaths (forget about what cause - just the total number - to avoid any questions about whether something was categorized correctly; dead is dead) rose by 18% over 2019. A normal year-over-year increase is 0.3% - 0.7%. From 2018 to 2019, total deaths rose 0.5%. But in 2020, they jumped 18%. Over 530,000 new unexpected deaths out of the blue, with a bunch of unexpected deaths appearing in March and April, particularly in New York and New Jersey.
So on the one hand, you have normal flu deaths at 36,000 total in a year, and on the other hand you have 530,000 extra deaths in 2020. The two just don't line up at all.
Since this is Europe, the two most predominant vaccines used are AstraZeneca and Pfizer/BioNTech.
