Everybody has heard of England and Italy. I should know. I have traveled to or lived in a lot of countries.
And the match had very high ratings in England and Italy and high ratings throughout Europe.
You don't seem to know much about football in Europe.
I think the ‘designated hitter’ and interleague play did it for me.
Even the US, the ratings for Euro 2020 were considerably higher than in 2016.
Having lived in Dublin and Glasgow and watched England playing some team or the other on the TV in the pub, I will say you are totally correct.
Tremendous amount of pressure with these major tournaments and the entire fate of a team and nation’s fans decided on penalty kicks.
I was in Pasadena in 1994 for the World Cup Final. You hate to see a final decided by penalty kicks. But that’s what happened then.
On Sunday, it happened again. England fans are smarting but they could only muster a tie against Scotland and they were fortunate to get an early goal against Italy which had given up only a single goal in the run of play late against Spain in the quarterfinal.
Forza Italia FRiends.
Seeing a bunch of 7 foot guys stuffing a ball in a net really isn’t too exciting.

I also find it odd, that the basket is the set at the same height for grade-school kids as it is for the pros.
The game has changed a huge amount in the last century. You might not know, but when my dad played for his high school in the early ‘30s, there was a jump ball after every basket! They used to have shutouts in basketball. Now the jump ball rarely happens.
Yeah, the guys are in great shape. It’s just not an interesting game.
Yeah?
Is that why over 3.5 billion people watched the 2018 soccer World Cup, while the 2020 NBA finals couldn't even get 8 million people to watch it? It makes the superbowlTV ratings look like tiddlywinks.
You don't really want to go down that particular path. You will get taken apart?
What more ya got?
