Amity Shlaes The Forgotten Man?

+ 1 on that. Great book, well written, and partially exposes how bad a President FDR was.

Surprised Amazon is selling a book that takes a critical look at one of the Kennedy “saints”.

Kaslin is confusing Hannibal with Alexander the Great.

Currently reading The Great Game by Peter Hopkirk.

The story is well written and tells the tale of the players On all sides, British, Russian and various Khans, princes and Moguls over the decades long event.

The Camp of the Saints - Because it is certainly becoming history.

Sorry to see neither my Reagan: The American President, nor A Patriot’s History of the United States, nor A Patriot’s History of the Modern World, 2 vols, on the list.

I think my Reagan is far better than Robinson’s.

He needed a better title for his column. I thought it was going to be a “brag fest” claiming that he wrote 25 history books and they were the best ever written. I’m familiar with Craig Shirley’s works and consider him to be a good historian.

BTW, I read Wead’s “Inside the Trump White House” & was extremely disappointed. In short, I found it bad history. He dedicated about 3 chapters to basically an interview with each of the kids; had almost no inside documents from existing open presidential papers; and had no significant analysis other than Jared Kushner played a big role in a lot of Trump’s success.

Steve Bannon concurred when I mentioned it to him.

This was AWESOME. Also try “Unintended Consequences” by John Ross on a rebellion vs the US government. It is out of print and very expensive now.

Meh... “Truman by David McCullough”

Overrated and only worse for all the details: economic moron who tried to resurrect the New Deal.

I read many of Masons books. Many really good. If you can find them try Kenneth Roberts’ books about the Revolution. Old, but very good.

Churchill’s history is very good, but somewhat self serving. But he did admit, after all.
