Big Fat Rats in abundance. Maybe they can add a little extra to the budget for feral cats

About 1/2 the time I don’t feel like loading up, tying down and driving my garbage to dump so I put it in a 55 gallon barrel with a hole cut in the side at the bottom, pour on kerosene or diesel, light it and put the leaf blower to it.

It is usually consumed in the same amount of time it takes for a round trip to the dump and back.

Say you have 10 old apples you want to toss. They are 90% water so are not of much use in a compost pile. If you have chickens or a pig, they can make much better use of them. They can put on weight with them.
You want really good compost cheap? Find a tree trimming crew and ask them to dump the shredded material on your property. Let that pile rot. The secret is that tree trimmings have much less water in them than old crappy vegetables and fruits you want to compost.

I can see lots of Californians using their kitchen disposal units more. Flushing their “organic” waste down their kitchen InSinkErator.

Yes, here and there rural and in the north. But it really has turned into a feud between city folks and country folks. And the City folks far out number the country folks with liberal votes.

And with Liberals it is always “one size fits all”.

It is a sinking ship and there is no way to ever save it now. Everyone is literally jumping off and swimming for their lives at this point. And the rest of the country will be lucky if Ca doesn’t drag them under with it.

The city of LA does not sort the trash and I suspect most do not as China and other countries have so much of our plastics that they are washing it down their rivers into the ocean.

If the dog doesn’t get it, it goes in the trash or down the garbage disposal. I imagine garbage disposals will now be outlawed in Frisco, if they haven’t already been. Everything we dispose of goes into the trash can. Zero recycling for us.

They don’t recycle the blue cans at all. Everything goes into the landfill except magnetic steel which they can easily separate. They use to be able to sell the recyclables to third world countries but it was too filthy and they can’t sell it. Californians throw everything into every can. It’s pointless.

Our city tried it for a while. Ended up with fruit flies in the house.

So, cottons, woolens, and linens go into the green bin; nylons, spandex, and rayons go into the trash can?

But, it isn’t Kosher to mix cotton or wool and linen...

Does one have to separate the leather uppers from the “man-made” soles, before tossing away shoes?

Organics are organics; where is the line drawn?

That comes to $62.50 each. I can buy similar at Ace, for half that, retail.

So, how much ended up in Dem coffers?

Our city gives us a large rolling recycle bin. It works great in the fall for leaves. That’s all I use it for.

I will not under any circumstances save my garbage.

The garbage disposal works great and the sewerage plant has a better time breaking everything down if it has food-stuff organics in it - it gets a better universe of bacteria.

There was a town in Wisconsin that many, many years ago installed garbage disposals in everyone’s kitchen sinks and reportedly saved millions in their sewage plant costs.

Food waste not only helps in sewage digestion at the sewage plant, the process of it braking down also creates more methane, which can be trapped and used for powering electric generators.

There is a plant in Brooklyn New York which specifically collects food waste from institutions and uses it in a biomass methane gas power plant.

If California wanted the “best” solution it would just require all homes to have garbage disposals in their kitchens. Their sewage plants would be more efficient and they can trap the methane and use it somewhere in power generation.
