Thank you for that information. Holding back our American Revolution is not “nice.”
I especially found repugnant “Dickinson also objected to violence as a means for resolving the dispute.”
If the Founders had continued with nonviolence we would not have won our freedom. A large sector of America (especially the New Yorkers) wanted to “get along” and not fight the British. Everyone wasn’t behind George Washington all the way.
