Josie Duffy Rice, a criminal justice system reporter and president of the ‘Appeal’ tweeted, ‘So either 1) none of the people involved, from the officers to the news station to the staffer who posted this, realized what a bad look this is or 2) they do know how it looks, and that’s why they posted it. Those are the only two possibilities! and they are both very very bad.’
‘This picture has a very unsettling “big game hunt” vibe. Like, how did it come about? “Hey guys, gather ‘round so we can remember this moment, bring the dogs!” I hope I’m wrong,’ another Twitter user said.
‘Omg. The cops look like they are posing with a lion or deer they shot. This is f***ked up,’ a Twitter user said.
‘And who would be considered the “animal” in this “big game” hunt? And is there are a history of dehumanizing and likening black people to animals? if that is the mindset of these officers - taking a picture of their “trophy,” then it is most certainly about race,’ a Twitter user said in a long list of response to Rice’s tweet.
If it were not a person of color, it would be a non-issue/non-story.
Definitely a Hallmark moment.
What’s wrong with that photo?
Like.
A Beagle chased him down. How embarrassing. LOL
Finding out who was outraged is always the good part.
Ok...The crook is smiling because he knew he got caught. He doesnt look like they beat the crap out of him as for the police dogs, they were Beagles who arent attack dogs but tracking dogs. Whats the problem?
Would anyone be surprised if they knew each other and maybe have been friends?
That town has a population of just over a thousand.
Four cops in a town of that size may just about be the whole police force.
Nothing at all. My local sheriff’s office did the same, but a white guy they’d been after. He smiled REAL big for the photo because he knew he’s be a local celebrity for a while. They put it on the office’s website on the crime blog which is actually very, funny. Whoever writes it should be making millions in comedy.
Pretty dumb thing to do considering the hysterical racial climate that exists.
How come everything cops do these days “sparks outrage”, while nothing criminals do even raises an eyebrow?
I agree with you, what is wrong with the photo? The officers apprehended the suspect, unharmed. He is a powerful, athletic man and he HAS NOT BEEN HARMED. What is wrong? The camera does not lie.
At least it wasnt a french bulldog. beagles are great trackers. Never seen them used for this before.
I don’t know why this is a big deal. The po-po were simply taking a photograph to prove they didn’t kill the guy or beat the snot out of him. They were protecting themselves from the lying liberal lamestream media who were going to say they beat/killed the guy.
Crazy people reading too much in to it.
Or insidious propagandists and agitators who know full well there’s nothing wrong with the photo.
P
does anyone in the media today (millennials) know what happened when bonnie and clyde were finally stopped? they took photos and rolled film and circulated that to newspapers and carnivals for years.
