I suspect that “career success” often depends on willingness to put out onscreen or off for lechers like Harvey Weinstein. Some happily play the game, others are forced to if they want a career at all.
Actresses belong to a union called the Screen Actors Guild. What stops them from working through their union to stop the prevalence of gratuitous sex and nudity, and shut down the exploiters? Directors with any skill at all can design scenes that are very hot without showing everything. Leave those who want to do porn free to sell themselves.

One more oldie. A man is buying drinks for a gal he met that night in a bar. After having some small talk, she looks him in the eye and says that she lost her job, is behind on the rent and offers to do anything that can be put in to just three words for $200. The man pulls out his wallet and lays two hundred dollar bills on the bar. The gal smiles and asks, “What would you like?” The guy replies “Paint my house.”
I find the majority of nudity or “sex” in movies to be pointless and gratuitous. It really adds nothing to the story and comes across as a required formula or part.
I would even say that most times it is not even part of the flow of the story. It is almost like Hollywood is convinced that they have to show naughty bits to make a good movie.
The same can be said for profanity. I am not a prude and care little about it, but many movies seem to go out of their way to include profanity that is also not necessary to the story.
Obviously, I do not understand Hollywood.
Quit getting nakkey for them. Just say no.

Truth. I don't like it in books either. There are ways to let the viewer/reader know that two people had sex without actually showing it.
It’s well known that Lawrence’s entire career is based on the casting couch, including *willingly* doing Harvey Weinstein for parts, so I consider her protestations a little hollow.
“Hollywood actresses have NO IDEA, in advance, they will be asked to appear nude in scenes? Have they never seen other Hollywood movies with nude women in them?”
If that’s the case, how come they don’t fire their agents. Isn’t that their job, to tell their client what’s in and out of scope for a role in a movie?

The cute actresses know that, if the movies shifted from sex and nudity, to plot and acting, they will have lost any competitive advantage they might have.

If you’ve not been a performance artist, such rationale for going ahead with these conscience-burning scenes looks foolish. But performance, acclaim and money have an incredible gravitational pull, almost like an addiction.
