For a trained Marine marksman of that time, it really was an easy shot, but Oswald did not hit JFK cleanly because of the limo rounding the curve and accelerating. The angles all line up from Oswald's perch for anybody who visits Dealy Plaza and the book depository site. From what I have heard, the most common remark by visitors of the museum at the book depository is something along the lines of, "I had no idea that the shot was this easy."

The 2nd throat hit was completely lethal. This is correct.

I find that self-serving narrative on the part of the FBI a bit hard to believe. Americans expect the Secret Service to be close by to a president when he in out in the public and does not diminish him at all.

The only good thing to come of it is this mistake saved the lives of future presidents to come.It also got rid of the kennedy klan, but we got LBJ and the 'Great Society'.
The kennedys would have been long term poison for the USA {although JFK was a patriot} his klan were leaches from the bottom of the swamp.

HULU has an entertaining 8-episode mini series titled "11.22.63" that has the protagonist time traveling back to 1960 to live in Dallas area and kill Oswald before he kills JFK.

Also not true.
Kennedy ordered the “Ivy League wannabe’s” away from the car because he thought it looked bad politically. The M16 was never fired and certainly not towards the President.
Oswald had a easy shot and all the time in the world. The driver didn’t hear the shot as a threat.

I visited the Plaza in the early 80’s. My first impression was how small it was. My second thought was “chip shot for any trained and practiced shooter”.

So the archives show 88% open some with redaction and the rest still sealed.

That over a half-century later the government is still hiding information about the assassination tells everything one needs to know. There is ugly incriminating information in the files. FedGov has a cancer of corruption that’s been growing since at least the Wilson administration.

Why do you say it wasn’t true? Cheever had interview transcript included in her text.

Say what you want about Goldwater being rejected as a conservative (not you, Nick, of course), BUT the 1964 election had nothing to do with him...it was all a memorial to JFK...who clearly had a ‘cult following’ as evidenced by the reaction of the country when he was killed.

That was the gimmick used to set up the patsy in Parallax View.

I never saw Parallax View but a quick imdb search reveals Warren Beatty starred and Alan Pakula directed...so definitely a very good foundation with both.

I don’t thing Fort Worth was “dry”, certainly by 1963 anyway. The city’s cowboy heritage would call for open bars. Unlike Dallas, there was no overwhelming Baptist presence. In the early 1900s, First Baptist Church of Fort Worth (FBC), led by J. Frank Norris, was a powerful influence and the pastor was very fundamentalist, leaving the Southern Baptist Convention for its liberal tendencies. By 1963, FBC was in eclipse and Norris long gone.
