And their staff are rude as hell.

If you were stuck in a no-skills low wage part-time job, you would be rude as hell as well.
I was Covid “retired” from my job last year, two years short of my full retirement date. Coming up a bit short, I became a Doordash driver for a few hours a day. I average $25 to $30 an hour. I don’t know why more people aren’t doing this. Of course, you have to have a car you’re willing to beat up.
It used to be so much better! Greasy double cheeseburger with fries cooked in beef tallow, hot and salty!
Now, its just bleagh with the rudeness to match, most of the time.
How does Chik fil A do it? I am sure their workers are paid the same but the experience is vastly different.

I did DoorDash for about a month in 2019. Made serious cash $1000 plus a week. Killed my car though.
Now it maxes out at about $460 a week in Denver/Boulder. And that was before the huge gas price increases.
“As a Dasher, earn whenever and wherever you choose. Dashers in Denver/Boulder are earning up to $460 per week.”
Doordash is a lot of fun, too.
If you factored that “beating up” on the car into the income, as well as additional insurance costs (if you aren’t hiding it from your insurance company), then you probably aren’t making $25-$30 per hour.
In the NYC metro area many of these drivers are foreigners; the young adult peers of my children gave it up because they weren’t making much money. They are competing with the masses of immigrants trafficked into NJ to (successfully) prevent losing a House seat...
And you also figure in the $1 to $3 increase in gas prices since ByeDum took office…. You ain’t making $20 to $30 an hour.
With the standard rate of $3 per delivery and $0 to $5 in tips per delivery and approximately 2 to 3 deliveries per hour…
It will take constant unicorns to make $20 to $30 an hour..

Most insurance companies basic coverage is for travel 15 miles round-trip per day.
Looked up Progressive. $296 a month extra. They will bar you if you are caught doing deliveries without it. They cancelled me when they flounder out I was doing DoorDash.
Seems AllState, StateFarm and others are the same.
The majority of insurance companies won’t cover delivery drivers under a personal insurance policy because of the dramatically increased risks.
Many personal auto policies will not cover losses that occur while using your vehicle to deliver for a fee.
It literally takes me 10 minutes to make a nutritious breakfast at home. I put a non-stick pan on medium heat with a little butter, toss in a couple or three eggs, flip after about three minutes and turn off heat. A minute later, they slide onto my plate in which I can eat them as they are (or toss on a toasted English muffin with a slice of cheese if I want the "McMuffin" experience). The non-stick pan rinses and wipes clean in seconds. I then get a yogurt out of the refrigerator, toss in some nuts or berries and I'm done.
Maybe $2 in ingredients compared to the $6 or more you will spend sitting at the McDonalds drive-thru. And their food is CRAPPY!
Even if you didn't want to make your own breakfast, you can go into any diner and get yourself a decent breakfast for about the same amount with unlimited coffee.
I don’t get their problem? When we have an issue with social media banning conservatives, we’re told to start our own competing platform. Why don’t these people just start their own fast food company?
Can anybody explain to me why they need to go to McDonalds in the first place

I’m guessing commuters on the way to work eating in their car?
The diner experience is not the 5 minute quick meal you car eat in the car. And with the tip, it’s triple. Where can you get a diner meal for $4?
10 minutes? Try more like 30 to 45 minutes cooking, eating and cleanup with eggs, bacon, hash browns etc.
Having said that, McDonald’s food sucks without a doubt.
I have a Prius that won’t die. 3000,000 miles, going strong. So yeah, I’m keeping that $25-30 an hour
LOL! That’s supposed to be 300,000 miles. As for gas...Prius again. I don’t fill up much even after a full day of Dashing.
Here's what I do:
Out the door in less than 10 minutes.
You’re sounding kind of sanctimonious - folks eating from Mickey D’s is their choice with their $$$...
All that being said - I work in a building with a cafeteria - 12+ years have never bought food from it - I’m the sanctimonious guy that that ribs his co-workers for wasting their $$$ on high priced food/junk...
Some of them let me know when they bring a lunch from home - I just smile...
Ok, try 10 minutes with a real breakfast:
eggs, bacon, ham and hash browns.
I’ll pass on the yogurt. Never liked it, never will.
So your example is total nonsense and garbage for the 99.9% that have real cars with real gas engines, not hybrids or electrics.
Try again.
We were on the road most of the day yesterday.
We did again what we’ve been doing for a while now.
We pack our own food and drink. It’s a lot cheaper, far healthier.
There is nothing at MickeyD’s, or any other fast food joint, that is worth $15/hr labor.
$1000 including or excluding gas, wear and tear on the vehicle, insurance, etc?
You may have your opinion based on the typical supermarket yogurt (like Dannon) that is basically just a sweet.
I go for the whole fat yogurts (no added sugar) that are much thicker and creamier - actually more like a cheese. With berries and/or nuts swirled in, you are having the perfect breakfast nutritionally speaking. Hash browns have a lot of carbs. Nothing wrong with adding bacon though.
