“That benefit alone especially when buying multiple firearms at once is worth every penny of the LTC costs if there are any at all.”
Oh, and if it is true that Dan Patrick inserted a poison pill, then politically speaking he is a dead man walking. Texas has a fantastic reputation regarding firearms laws, but the reality of our actual laws does not even come close to that reputation - and people like Patrick are responsible for that. Time for him to go, not just because he has been a huge softy on the 2A for his entire career, but to serve as a warning to the other chicken-shit Republicans in the state.
Imagine what it would be if the legislature met every year.
WAit, what was the topic of this thread?
Different Dan Patrick, idiot.

“Different Dan Patrick, idiot.”
Patrick started his first radio job in 1968 at the age of 18. After college, in 1977, he became a television broadcaster at WNEP-TV in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Patrick later held a similar position at WTTG in Washington, D.C., before he became the lead sportscaster with KHOU-TV in Houston.

You may want to Fix it.
Dana Loesch interviewed Lt. Dan last week. He said under the Constitutional Carry bill as approved by the Texas House, the cost for LTC would be $0, down from the current $40 IIRC. He is fully on board with this bill, the detractors in these threads and in the media are stirring up schiff trying to damage his popularity IMO.

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick is a former sportscaster.
The other Dan Patrick is a sports talk show host.
Former sportcaster, around 35 years ago. You typed it as if he were a sportscaster today. Should I refer to you as a frycook because you were one 35 years ago?
He also owned a bar in the Rice Village. Spent some time in that bar while in high school.
“I could care less what you think. Having to demonstrate basic skills to do an activity in public is well established law. Driver licences for one. No one says you can’t own a car you have to demonstrate proper skills to use it in public roads. It’s not up to you, if Texas passes this a lot of people will vote out those who do it’s political calculus do they think the majority of Texans want every Bubba and gang banger carrying without a background check or proficiency test. From my large group of professional and social cohorts who are all Veterans combat vets at that, current and former law enforcement myself included in both those categories, Leo’s of Federal and local, and business owners NONE of them want constitutional carry not a single one. The process in Texas is not onerous and keeps people who lack the skills or background to carry legally in public. We will just out vote you types and do on a regular basis.”
The sorry part is you probably will out vote us. Just for the record, I am retired military and I was a reserve police officer (with a POST certificate, meaning I have been through the police academy) and I was a deputy sheriff. What’s the difference in your opinion and Biden’s opinion on guns? If you can restrict the carrying or ownership of guns, what’s logically wrong with what he wants? It’s just a matter of opinion. Once again, what part of “shall not be infringed” do you not understand? You can’t defend your position logically. You just can’t. And for someone who “could care less what you think”, you just devoted an entire paragraph to what I think. Oh yeah, I probably am your “Bubba”. You do realize FreeRepublic is a conservative site, right? Not to sound too cliche, there’s no constitutional right to drive a car.
“Even if you don’t know which end goes “boom” and will likely shoot yourself or a bystander, you can carry in public.”
Hasn’t been a problem in Arizona.....
““Now, it looks like Patrick may have successfully placed a poison pill in an amendment to Constitutional Carry, in hopes it would cause the House to kill the bill by a point of order.”
It this is accurate, Patrick will never win an election again.
Your issues just haven’t BEEN issues in Arizona. Since 2010. Other states include:
Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota (residents only; concealed carry only), Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
Nice zip code. I have my own issues with Lt. Dan but he is lightyears away better than dirtbag Dewhurst that he replaced.
Under Lt. Dan, Texas now has Campus Carry for LTC citizens, strengthened castle doctrine, castle doctrine extended to automobiles and probably a few other 2nd Amendment strengthening issues that I don't recall right now.
See if you can find Dana Loesch's interview with him last week, he explains why he does not put forth bills if he doesn't think they will pass both houses and be signed by Abbott. In the interview, he said he met with the Houston Police Officers Association and a Sheriffs association (don't think he said which one) because they opposed the CC bill as written in the House for a couple of reasons, not in it's entirety.
Among other things, they wanted a minimum manditory 5 year sentence for those convicted of crimes commited with a firearm - very good IMO. He listened to their requests and requested that some or all of them be included in the revised bill. That's how the process should work. Think of it, not only might we get CC but criminals convicted of comitting crimes with a firearm actually getting a manditory 5 year minimum sentence regardless of what dirtbag Rat judges want.
Texas still has its problems but Abbott and Lt. Dan are definitely chipping away at 2nd Amendment restrictions in the state. I fully support them for that.
If he's lying about wanting CC to pass, he's sure working hard get it passed. He's not perfect but he's a very solid conservative Lt. Governor.
Sorry about that rude comment, I get tired of people mixing up the two up and your comment struck me as if you had them mixed up.
He is far better that Dewhurst and far less personal baggage.
He would speak at our high school sports banquets and treated all good when even at his bar. At least he did not throw us out on the street.
Yes, Rice Village is a nice area and was far away from my home turf.
Dan is a good guy, but back in the 80’s I would have never thought he would end up being the most powerful man in the state.
..yet. It's coming. I was told long ago when I first got my instructors certification that the likelihood of seeing someone shoot themselves on the range was akin to winning the lottery. Since then, I've witnessed it twice. One guy died on the scene. I still haven't won the lottery.
I don't think there is anything "stupid" about firearm safety. Maybe you think it's a joke though. People accidentally discharge firearms all the time. Sometimes, they accidentally shoot themselves. I've witnessed it twice. One guy died.
“..yet. It’s coming.”
Ummm....we’ve had permitless carry for 11 years now. 7+ million population. Just how long do we need to be successful for Texas to figure this one out?
Neither Dan Patrick nor Gov. Greg Abbot want this law, so they conspired to put a poison pill in the legislation so they could claim they supported the original legislation, but couldn’t sign the bill with the poison pill amendments. This is so typical of Patrick and Abbot.
Abbott and Patrick are despised by conservative Texans.
