You are correct about the supreme court ruling. I had forgot that even though I actually practice it.

I tell my wife that if anything goes off the rails DO NOT CALL the cops until it is over.

Trying to carry on a phone conversation when things are getting dangerous is a very bad move. All attention must be on the bad guy.

Or dial 911 and toss the phone across the room. That way everything that happens is recorded and admissible in court. Including your wife screaming “get out I have a gun! Don’t come any closer or I’ll shoot!”
