Agree or disagree whether prostitution should be legal or not, it is not the job of the prosecutor to decide what is illegal and what is not. The legislature is responsible for passing and repealing laws.
Failing to prosecute just breeds contempt for the law and the government in general and leaves enforcement to arbitrariness.

Equal Protection refers to the idea that a governmental body may not deny people equal protection of its governing laws. The governing body state must treat an individual in the same manner as others in similar conditions and circumstances.
So if I am charged with a crime in NYC, guess I would ask the judge to dismiss the charge because of the 14th Amendment. Since DA Cyrus Vance Jr asked for some criminals to have their charges dropped, well guess we all get them dropped!
Maybe if the pimps carry guns, they can replace at least some of the law enforcement that has been pulled back.
