The modern world would not be possible with out the genius of Nicola Tesla he invented polyphase AC which is the basis of the 3 phase high voltage AC grid, it is his polyphase AC induction generators that power every light and motor in the modern world. It is also his polyphase AC induction motor that drive nearly every large manufacturing facility and it is the very same induction motors that drive Telsa vehicles that’s why they are named Tesla. Without those electrical devices and the steam turbine modern life would not be possible. Well before the ICE engine there was Tesla and his induction generators and motors, electric trains, ships(the steam turbo electric drive predates diesel engine ships) electric streetcars, giant electric motors turning all manner of factory machines. The very first electric power plant was built at Niagara to power industrial electric motors in factories home power was an after thought. When people were still riding horses dropping manure all over the streets the electric street cars were already spanning cities. Benz basicly stole Ottos engine designs and put them on a horse carriage to create the first auto at that time there were already battery powered carriages only petrols superior at the time energy density moved the industry to the otto cycle and later the diesel cycle. It’s only a matter of time before the energy density of batteries crosses that of the equivalent in petrol per unit of volume per mile moved. Aluminium is trivalent and has a density higher per unit area than hydrocarbons the problem for 50 years since aluminum became cheap in bulk is cycle life two groups have shown 10,000 cycle plus life for Al-ion cells that will give a 1000 mile to a class 1_3 vehicle it’s inevitable that the transition be made once energy density is comparable the cost per mile advance of 7 cents kwh vs $2.50 gas is 5 to one in favor of electricity that’s because an electric motor will always be more efficient than a thermal cycle motor that’s physics at work. 7 cents a kwh in a Tesla S is equal to 55 cents per gallon petrol in a mile per mile basis.
The biggest technical obstacle is we don't have the capacity to generate the electricity. And Biden wants to reduce our generating capacity, not expand it.
President Joe Biden’s EPA Administrator Michael Regan... talked about imposing rules that meet “the urgency of the climate crisis,” ...Regan could, for example, require automakers to sell cars that get an average of 70 mpg – something that only electric cars could meet. The most fuel-efficient hybrid on the market tops out at 59 mpg. The most efficient gas-powered car – the tiny Mitsubishi Mirage – gets 39 mpg.
Link? The cheapest I could find was 300W panels at a buck a watt.
You are that dumb I told you all the numbers you need for 4th grade math. Ok I’ll do it for you 15,000*0.35= $5250 see that’s not so hard. Take a calculator and read my post again I gave you all the numbers you need. The most expensive component was the inverters those were $8000 for both. The install and grid tied was cheap labor under a grand I used my own crew who work for me anyways and an uncle who is licensed in my state to meet code. All in was $13900 those panels make on avg 33,000 kwh per year some years more. The rates I sell to ercot for range from 5 cents to 120 cents per kwh. The nice thing about solar is it makes it’s peak power when the grid needs it most not summer at the hottest sunny part of the day when ercot is offering 70+ cents per kwh for peakers. I don’t have a power bill I get a paycheck every month it took less than 4 years to turn a profit on my panels. I have installed two more identical systems for family members and they have negative bills as well now. Thank you Republicans for making sure Texas is a solar netpower state.
120 cent/kw-hr? Riiiiight.....
Wholesale with a federal TIN number shipped direct from China. I would suggest Alibaba I won’t give up my supply I make a tiddy profit as a side gig doing off grid installs. Texas is ripe for solar we have the laws and the sun here. Minimum order for those rates is 10 pallets FOB look around you will find one in Alibaba
Year round, even in the winter months, you STILL get a payback and no bill?
That will be banned too.
Texas just had $9 kwh for three days. We see 70 cents in peaker times in the summer for a few hours at a time , 120 is not unheard of until capacity comes online. To fire up peaker gas plants at full capacity the EPA minimum is $1500 mwh that’s $1.5 or 150 cents per kwh anything below that and gas turbines have to run at reduced capacity for EPA air limits. Averaged out over a year my panels earn 11 cents a kwh they paid back my $13900 in just under 4 years this year I will make $3700 or more I’m putting up two more sets and contracting the home owners for the roof space I’ll sell them power at 5 cents and sell the rest to the grid at 11 on avg they pay zero for the panels on their roof and get power at half the retail rate in exchange for the roof space and access to the breaker panel. Every one wins. They don’t have to put up 14 grand up front , they get cheaper power and I turn a profit on the panels and it’s a tax write off while they pay themselves off win, win, win.
January 1th this year my panels made 114 kwh that’s the shortest daylight day of the year. That day my home used less than 20 kwh no AC heat is either heat pump or natural gas I can chose which I run via my smart home app. My home used 330 kwh for the whole month of January my panels made that in 2 n half days at the beginning of the month the rest was sold I can chose to bank heat or cold my heat pumps have tanks in the water side depending on how the 4 day valves in the heat pump are set that tank gets hot or cold stored in it normally it’s hot and the home hot water has a feed through from that to the tankless then to the home. If it’s in cold mode then the tankless runs on gas and bypasses the cold tank which then feeds the heat exchanger in the attic hydric systems have a COP of 5 in cold and 6 in heat. Gas is normally so cheap in Texas I don’t use the solar to run the heat pumps in heat mode it better to sell the power to ERCOT and buy cheaper gas to heat with.
Texas where I live gets 220 days per year. This is the climate data for Dallas in January. Polysilicon panels make power under any light under 30% OC they are still making 50% of their rated capacity. Mine have shade diodes so if one panel is shaded the others still make power.
Typically on 10 days this month the sky is mainly clear, with at most 30 percent cloud cover. Sunlight in January at Dallas lasts for 10 hours and 16 minutes a day on average. The shortest day of the month is the 1st with 10 hours and 3 minutes of daylight.
$0.13/kwh for electricity?...that is fantasyland in Calif...try $0.31/kwh. And drop the tax credit for the Tesla.
And may the end be the same.
So lazy.
Here these are even cheaper than what I got 4 years ago
340 watt panels for 69 bucks in bulk that’s 20 cents per watt. 25 year 97507th warranties as well.

Does Texas have tax credits or other incentives for solar solar installation?
More to the point will be raising gas prices so the little people can’t drive.
26% federal tax credit on the cost of the system that off your income tax or LLC in my case. The state has a $2500 solar feed in credit for nearly every provider in this case Oncor or TXU. And Texas is net metered for individual’s but the pay out is the differed rate not the market rate. If you own a LLC then you can sell directly to the wholesale market via ERCOT as a commercial power producer that’s how you get access to the wholesale rates and also all the tax benefits to being a S Corp or C Corp, roll profits over to put up more systems , take deprecation schedule ect. The more systems one owns the more they make and the more the tax benefits rack up my goal this year is to start putting 25kw systems up on the large golf course homes in my area with ten of them up I’ll have 8000 a year per system in profits gladly take another 80k a year in mail box money. My two rental homes already have panels the renters are on a separate meter I sell 100% of those panels power to ERCOT no need to give renters cheap power. What started out as an off grid 0430034 project turned into a nice side gig when I’m not consulting for oil and gas the irony is not lost on me. I don’t care I’m all about making my money work for me not me working for my money.
