I’ll just state the obvious...Hemmingway probably failed on the ‘secret-agent’ business because he consumed way too much alcohol and was never coherent enough to remember any information told to him. It’s not an insult over the guy...it’s just the way he was.

I’m sorry if I’m stepping on toes, but I think Hemingway is one of the most overrated authors of the 20th Century. I’ve tried reading his stuff, and it’s just dull and uninspiring. Maybe that speaks more to me as a reader, but a good author ought to capture imaginations better.

Ken Burns, one communist spouting off about another communist, papa.

Hemingway was a drunken pig, and the fact that he was a communist didn't bother his pals a little bit.

Roosevelt was more of a communist, racist and bigot than Putin ever was.

The demonRAT party doesn't give a fat rat's ass about America, it's ideals and values and the freedoms we have, they want power because they know better than we do.

The second revolution is coming and it will be ugly.

Not just you.
Actuarial tables are more inspiring than anything Hemingway wrote. I was never able to get more than two chapters into anything he wrote.
I’m not sure why everyone claims he was a great writer. More like a full of himself jackass than anything else.

Surprise! Leftists rewrite history instead of reporting it.

Well of course it does. Even George Will talked about Hemingway's collaboration with the Soviets in response to the publication of some fake bio of H that left it out.

“I’m not sure why everyone claims he was a great writer.”

I’ve supposed that it was because he was a commie. No matter what the actual situation, the left must always be praised, and normal people denigrated.

Hemingway was a thoroughly loathsome and disagreeable human being. A braggart, a liar and a creep. He did the world a favor when he removed himself from the planet.

Pinochet did the same thing. The results were better. Didn’t have to kill as many. Something tells me that at any given time 10% of the people need to be banished in some way for the betterment of the tribe/species. In the animal world the weak ones are left to perish, females mate with the stronger males. Guiliani’s stop and frisk saved thousands of lives. GE dumped 10% of it’s worst performers every year. Fear is a great motivator.

I laughed out loud reading your comment. I remember reading Mad magazine and a parody of Hemingway when I was 13 and thinking this stinks just like reading Hemingway.
I had no clue about how closely tied to events (activity) he actually was until reading this. I just thought he was a Nazi sympathizer when I was younger and decided to ignore him (unless a school assignment). My most striking impression of Hemingway is a Mad magazine parody!

The guy was just obsessed with death. Father killing himself with a gun to the head in the childhood home with the wife downstairs. I could see where he would get off on it.

Hemingway - “Look at me! Read about all the macho things I have done!”

Hemingway tried to be the equivalent of the Dos Equis guy, without the satire. He believed his own PR.

Sadly, in the end, even that did not satisfy or fulfill him.

Figured out he wasn’t all that and a bag of chips during the first episode then promptly changed the channel.
