other Jewish thinkers, essentially they're thinking Reform/liberal Jews, essentially dates to the early/mid 19th century. And Tikkun Olam wasn't the issue in their founding, fitting into modern Christian nations like Germany where it started was. Thus a Sunday Sabbath. Didn't work well in Germany.
I'd also note that the welfare of society at large, not a bad thing, is unrelated to class struggle and identity politics. Other than in a negative light, the latter being set upon to destroy the former.
I have no argument with the concept as taught by the ancients. But Daniel Greenfield, right there in this essay, pointed out that in recent times, the term has been enslaved to marxist progressivism, and that this rabbi put that spin on it.
