Trump was ready to do the same, but the Dems wouldn’t let him have the ‘victory’ (thankfully). Short of a hard-core conservative president (very hard-core), we were never going to win this fight.

Yep, that's ol' John, as predictable as a sundial. For five years and six months after his reelection, he does stuff like this. Then for six months before voters go to the polls once again (and his political hide is once again on the line), he rolls out the patriotic billboards, American flags and red-white-and-blue bunting. He says the things we want him to say, but with which he demonstrably disagrees. Works like a charm.
My grandfather would have called Cornyn a "flim-flam man". With a few choice salty adjectives thrown in.

Only a true fool would be surprised by this in the slightest degree. Cornyn is a snake and has always been. I was suckered into voting for him once. Have taken every opportunity I have had since then to vote against him since then.
