I remember a vignette from the show "L.A. Law" -- a judge is upbraiding both attorneys, and stated "the practice of law isn't about right and wrong, it's about advocacy". ;^)
How far does that go? Certainly, this particular Katie Hill story is newsworthy. But can you think of any instance where a public figure still has privacy protections? Would a public figure have a privacy interest in his tax records and medical records?
Sure, there are limits to it, but they have a generally reduced expectation of privacy (so it’s hard for them, for example, to win a suit against papparazzi for “harassment” like you or I could for someone following us with a camera, since celebrities invite that kind of attention by nature of their work), and they also have just about zero expectation of privacy for anything that is “in the public interest”, which is especially relevant for government officials.

Records that are confidential by legal mandate are private for everyone, even celebrities (except for the recent Donald Trump Exemption, apparently).
