What is is called when gooberment mandates a wage for all employees regardless of their worth.

I think there is a name for it and it has been tried many times without working. SOCIALISM!

That is pretty much what it boils down to. The other poster who stated he pays his employees a minimum hourly wage of $15 is fine, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

But having it as a mandate from above is, as you say, Socialism.

Union contracts are based on the minimum wage. Contracts usually stipulate the salery is X Tomes the minimum wage. That way all unions get a raise if the minimum wage is increased

I cannot believe that after decades of turning everything into an economic question, and going down the libertarian rabbit hole, that Republicans still have to engage in these arguments with the Left. It’s not enough to have the correct theory backed up by real data; you don’t simply “put the truth out there” and it somehow prevails. That is magical thinking. We really didn’t gain a darned thing from all of those economics debates if we are having to do it all over again. Is a debate on rent control coming up?

“...and he eats all day every day...”

Not completely sure on this. The state shutdowns were just as harmful to democrat voters as republican. The libs took the fish away and even liberal voters got hungry. Look at California and New York.

Both governors are in deep kimchi right now just like others that are running for their political lives as we speak for everything from mismanagement of funds and cutting police services to go along with shutting down the financial machines of their states.

Somehow not allowing the state to earn money has led to a high in April last year of 14.88% unemployment rate. Unemployment Rate in the United States has averaged 5.77 percent from 1948 until 2021. We have come down since last year, but we are still over the national average. And the labor market is far from healthy: for instance, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) counted 4.5 million more people as unemployed in January 2021 than were unemployed before the pandemic—and many more people weren’t counted as unemployed because they’d stopped looking for work. The government has taken the fish away and don’t care.
