Right now I think the use case for EVs is as a second or third car for affluent commuters who live in suburban areas and have a regular 40-60 mile daily commute. The range isnt an issue, the charging gets done slowly overnight, and for other uses there is some gas powered vehicle to fall back on.
Also saw something that said Toyota and possibly Honda are pretty far along with Hydrogen fuel cell EVs. The look like EVs but instead of batteries they have fuel cells that run in liquid hydrogen. The physics of these are much more favorable and apparently they are not like Hindenburg Zeppelins on wheels - actually quite safe.
One of the problems is lithium mining.
Not an econut but it is VERY destructive.
And charging time.
Big positive is the engines run cleaner and are mechanically simpler.
Brad Sowers is an idiot. Let’s see how long he stays in business if he goes heavy on the “electric car”. One good lightning storm, small EMP blast, a Texas-sized blizzard, brown or black-outs due to transmission problems (including sabotage, the secret but real terrorism tactic now being used in the West), and he’s got a new business, scrap metal, scrap/crap batteries, and scrap melted glass.

It will be a pain in the ass for apartment dwellers to charge their vehicles.
I expect to see the USA look more like Cuba in say 20 years where well loved classic gasoline powered automobiles are repaired and have their engines replaced with old tractor diesel engines that are then run on salvaged cooking oil.
