Hello, you dont HAVE to buy new.
Get a 2016 for $10,000, they are everywhere, with around 30k on them.
As a second car, for bopping around town, they aint bad, plug it into your dryer socket in the garage to recharge, easy as pie.
8 year/100,000 mile full warranty on battery, not a lot of parts to wear out, tires and brakes, thats it. Trade it or sell it in a couple years.
—”Do EVs even run in extreme cold?”
The last time I checked, it can get very cold in Norway.
So, fear not!
Norway’s EV sales rise to record 54% market share
Audi topped the 2020 sales with its e-tron SUV and Sportsback models as the best-selling new cars in Norway last year, while Tesla’s Model 3, the 2019 winner, was in second place.
So the US transportation industry becomes dependent
on rare earth elements from China. What could go wrong?
OK, I need a subsidy for my car. Please send me a check.
“ When do I get a thank you note for helping you to buy a car?”
Here you go:
Thank you.
“ If you want an EV, buy it yourself at full price, not subsidized by we the people.”
So you never wrote off mortgage interest or charitable donations?
It’s not a “Conservative Principle” to be dumb. And over the years I’ve paid in plenty.
EV can charge at home from solar panels on the roof if the grid is down. All the gas pumps in a 5 mile area where the power was down also could not pump fuel in the tanks without electricity to run the submerged pumps. Not a single one had a back up diesel generator to keep the pumps on when the grid was down. In addition the gas pumps that had electricity were all out of fuel as the demand spiked and people filled tanks for generators I saw people filling 40 to 50 gallons worth of tanks for generators. My solar panels even on the darkest overcast day still managed to make 1200 watts an hour polycrystalline silicon panels make power under ANY light not just direct sun. In full sun my panels make 15 kilowatts. We lost the grid for 36 hours straight and again for another 12. During the day we had the hosie at 83 degrees all powered by the panels on the roof and at night I ran the whole house generac for two hours just to keep the freezers and fridges from spoiling the thermal mass was enough to.cool from.83 down to the low 70s in the morning and then the sun came back and the heat pumps turned back on solar powered. I couldn’t have been happier with my panels all my neighbors are getting them installed it was the best possible testimonial to see my home well lit and warm while they.shivered.
Diesel backup, baby!
That's why the ChiComs are building hundreds of coal fired power plants and laughing at us.
I’ve often snarkily thought EVs in northern climes should have Webasto diesel-fueled heaters and a 2g diesel tank.
We’re going down so many bad paths at once it’s mind-boggling.
I wonder what Texans with EV’s did when the lights went out?
Diesel backup, baby!
