I’m very involved in efforts to get CA schools to reopen in full (private and public—both are still hampered by the 4-6 foot state distancing “requirement”).
One interesting thing I’ve learned: reopened, in-person school is yes partly linked to red states/rural areas, and weaker teachers unions, but also linked to something else: how much parents passionately care about education, to the point of recalling their school boards (I’m working on that for mine). It’s also linked to sensible county health public officials who are sympathetic to the issue.
So some blue areas have more reopened schools due to passionate parent interest and involvement: Connecticut and Marin County in CA, for example.
Please stop! They are not doing this for the people (not common people). They do this for politics and themselves. We knew this would happen. Now look behind us and see the ashes of what this ‘Rona and the evil forces who manipulated it have done and WILL do again and again.

CT resident since ‘88: It was like western PA when I moved here, sux now. But they did pass a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced budget. They know unless there is tax money coming in from businesses, they’re screwed.
