How do US numbers look when NY is not included?
Wow. That’s a long wait. I didn’t realize it was taking that long.
By then, the CCP virus will be practically gone!
At least it gives people more time to decide/research.

The over 65 year old population in the USA totals about 55 million. They are the priority, in terms of mortality and serious disease.
According to the CDC (https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccination-demographic ), about 22 million have received a first shot, and about 8 million of them have gotten their second.
Not everybody wants the vaccine though. On average about a third of those surveyed don’t want it, but more do, as their individual risk increases. For example, over 90% of nursing home residents wanted it (their second shots will be wrapping up over the next 2-3 weeks).
So I figure on 80% of the over 65 year old population wanting the shots (44 million). That means about another 22 million first shots, plus about another month to wrap up the seconds. Over 65 year olds have been getting about half a million new first shots per day, so in about six more weeks (April), those first shots will likely start being made available to lower priority people. Around the end of April, the supply of second shots now going to over 65 year olds should shift to other groups as well.
There are many indications that supply will rise through March, especially if (as expected) Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine is approved after this Friday’s (26 Feb) review. So maybe other, lower priority, categories will be offered availability even sooner.
Such “spot surpluses” have already occurred within some isolated places at times. They will become more common, and then some States will formally open availability to lower priority categories.
I think that by the end of April, with the over 65 year olds no longer in line, and additional new suppliers like Novavax and AstraZeneca likely to be approved and shipping, we should start seeing pretty widespread availability.
All for something that is 99+++% survivable, in every group.....if TREATED EARLY, with safe and effective and INEXPENSIVE drugs (that have been on the market/tested, for decades).
And, case numbers and (proven questionable) death rates are falling like Hillary on stair steps.
Best of luck to those who are willing to be the lab rats, for this. This includes elderly family members, of mine. :-(

As a widespread Public Health issue, I think so. However, long after all the adults have be exposed or vaccinated, COVID-19 will remain as an endemic disease in the wild - just another case of coughs that kids go through as part of growing up.
Last Thursday’s (18 Feb) Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal, from a guy at John Hopkins, also projected new cases pretty much crashing in April, due to naturally developing herd immunity. He used two different estimation measures, to estimate that something like 55-65% of the American population has already been exposed.
April is also the end of cold & flu season. COVID-19, like most coronaviruses, appears to be seasonal.
So in April, with the vulnerable population largely vaccinated, and new cases petering out, the crisis should be over (by objective, rather than political measures).

That may be true. Hindsight is 20-20.
We did have a scary period where hospitals were jammed and a lot of people were dying, and not much was known for sure.
Going forward, that much greater understanding of the disease, and demonstrated effective treatments, make it all the more likely that we should be ending these lockdowns soon. April is my estimate, but the decision is political. Florida is already pretty open, some Leftists will probably hang on till the bitter end of credibility.
