He’s right. We are in better shape than we were 4 years ago with a couple of rare earth mines and processors and a requirement that PPE and other vital medical supplies purchased by the government be domestically produced, but there is a lot more work to do. We need to make sure there are no Chinese electronic components in any military hardware. We also need to force Big Tech to decouple from China and not share any software or help China in any way to develop theirs.
Then we need to slap a nice hefty tariff on all Chinese goods like President Trump already did.

I'm not sure Tom understands the dynamic here.
We're the biggest market today but China has a reputation for playing the long game, and given that our growth is hovering around 2% while lots of Asia is well above that I'm not sure China views us as critical to their success medium/long term.
We have to be aggressive and win in those new markets, not overplay our leverage trying to maintain the past.
