It has been a while, but I recall he was badly wounded and lay on the battlefield for a long time in that state before they found him, and it took a long time to get him to an aid station, and even longer to get him to a real hospital.
The guy has guts. I am glad for him he will have the time to be with his family and loved ones, and everyone will get to say their goodbyes. Not everyone gets that chance.

Shannen Doherty announced she had Stage 4 breast cancer a full year ago. Still seems to be doing OK. Posts on Instagram etc.
Treatment????? Good grief. He’s 97. I’d ask for a glass of water and morphine mixture. Kiss Elizabeth and say an act of contrition and fall to sleep. End of story.

They actually may be trying immunotherapy on him, like Keytruda. Keytruda is used for several kinds of cancer, including lung, and can be very helpful for many patients. Side effects aren’t usually that bad. They tried it on my mother for her head and neck cancer (salivary duct carcinoma). It didn’t do anything for her and she passed just before Christmas. At his age, I’d be surprised if they go the chemo/radiation route given he’s stage 4. It’s likely immunotherapy.
I agree. Had and is having a good life. He was and is a politician so he is not poor. Very tough people back then. Taking nothing away from todays warriors.. No doubt he has seen a lot of changes in his life.

Yep. I was surprised to read he was starting treatment.
Leader Dole gave much in WW 2, including the use of an arm. His Senate fights for the Right were so successful that he earned a shot at the presidency. He will certainly have the right to ‘lay in the Rotunda’ some day.
That a deceased Jan. 6th policeman being placed in the Rotunda for viewing was political. His use as a symbol by Nancy of her sudden respect for ‘law and order’ is revolting.
No one deserves the Rotunda honor more than Rush!

Sorry for the loss of your mother. I lost mine a couple years ago at the age of 90. Not cancer though, just old age.

As much as I did not agree with Bobs politics at all times, this man was a genuine HERO veteran.

Treatment for cancer has Dole’s age is very gentle stuff... mostly keep him comfortable.
Dole’s a good man - let’s hope his exit is handled with love and care...
Radon scare is as dumb as COVID.
Radon exposure, which is the #1 cause of lung cancer among non smokers.
Please provide me with just ONE death certificate where the cause of death was “prolonged exposure to radon gas”.

As much as I disagree with him on some things, I have to pray for him. Bob Dole was a good statesman.
