To me the key bit is the now constant, periodic corrections to the “dislikes”. Note especially the slopes of each climb of the “dislikes” - all are the same and identical to the slope of the original accumulation of “dislikes” (before they caught the “problem” and “fixed” it.)

There is a too large segment of the population who are swayed by such things as the ratio of likes to dislikes,the tabloids, People magazine,the View,etc.
And those people actually vote and make other important choices based on popularity not reason or facts.
