We saw 1984 in real action in 2008 when someone altered the Justia legal reference database and removed all cross-references to "natural born citizen" cases, and then restored those references after Obama won the election.

The news archives and encyclopedias are alterable on a daily basis depending on who is the current enemy of the state.
