The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere reached record levels in 2020, hitting 417 parts per million in May. Not even close to a record. For most of the history of life on Earth CO2 levels were well above 1,000 ppm and as much as 7,000 ppm.

2020 was an El Nino year. When you hear a claim that it was "the hottest year on record, despite being La Nina", then you know they are lying. It is La Nina now, but there's always a temperature lag.

The year 2020 was more than 1.2C hotter than the average year in the 19th Century. Letr's hope so. The 1800's were the tail end of the Little Ice Age.
