I am scheduled to get the vaccine. An mRNA vaccine is novel, but against that, I figure, viruses get in the body with their DNA or RNA, use cellular machinery and produce proteins...which is what the vaccine will do.
The vaccine is more self limiting than a virus, the mRNA won’t reproduce, and RNA breaks down unlike DNA. . Part of me wonders, what if it wrote itself into a ribosome...
It does seem less likely to produce a weird auto immune reaction than a virus.
I am not 100% committed to it, do you have specific concerns?
Maybe if they hadn’t lied to us time after time ...
Everything to do with this virus from start to finish has been contradictory. Why would we expect the vaccine to be different at this point?

There are few narratives about “covid” that have remained consistent and many that are even contradictory.
The “lockdowns” did not work. We ignored effective treatments because of politics.
Yes, the story I linked and questions I asked were about the vaccine. However, you cannot ignore that for months we were told the vaccine was the panacea (as vaccines should be and have been for many diseases) that would fix everything. Now we are here with more than one vaccines available and all of a sudden half of the medical profession is refusing it?
Sorry FRiend, but it is hard to separate all of this. This thing has been a mess from start to finish since China lied about it. Yes, the vaccine is separate, but it is hard to trust anything you read about anything to do with Covid.
People don’t trust what they read any more. I have gotten “better” information from foreign media sources that link to studies from reputable medical researchers and much of the evidence is contradictory to what the CDC and American media have stated. Again, I am not an anti-vaxxer, but there are more than a few people refusing the vaccine. That should be a cause to pause and ask questions at the very least shouldn’t it?

Why should they be required to get it. If you get your shot, wear your mask, and social distance you’re guaranteed safe and it no skin off your teeth!!!!!!!!!!

The same Fauci who did not support the travel ban, told us masks don’t work, and told us that a vaccine would fix everything. Yet here we are..... Fauci grudgingly admits the travel ban helped, says we MUST wear masks at all times, and now who says you will have to wear a mask after the vaccine!

This is certainly true but has nothing to do with if the vaccine is safe and effective or not. Nor does it have anything to do with many of the other things you jump around to.
Why get the shot if social distancing and wearing masks are still required?
Just do the latter two and skip the shot.

We escaped in '66 two years before the Ruskies overran us in '68.
My experience is with propaganda, and right now I simply do not trust anything coming from the CDC or any bureaucracy.
I will wait and see how people respond, assuming we will get valid information - Thalidomide may or may not be a valid previous case to reference at this point

Do I trust sources that were badly wrong about other aspects of the virus when they tell me the vaccine is 96% effective with no long-term problems?
Yes, each of us have to make a decision about the vaccine. I have to make mine this week. I am leaning towards getting it because (like the virus itself) the risk for me appears low. However, given the side effects I am against my children being vaccinated. They have no real real measurable risks from the virus itself. My wife is against the vaccine because she does not trust anything the experts say about the virus.
I find it troubling that so many “health care workers” are refusing the virus. If you don’t, that is okay by me. Each of us have to make our own decision. However, it is undeniable that this is an interesting trend and given that we spend much of our time here on FR watching the world and/or commenting the topic is worthy of discussion.
I don’t know about California (except that it’s the land of fruits and nuts), but in New Hampshire the demand for vaccine among healthcare workers is very high.
Again your choice. Everyone makes their own decision. What I object to is feeding people hysterically false information in an attempt to sway them ( note I am not saying this applies to you it is a general comment). However, I still fail to see what that has to do with the annual influenza vaccine

So its OK to coerce someone as a condition of employment to take a vaccine that is NOT FDA Approved and be a guinea pig?
All the FDA did is grant an Emergency Use Authorization which means it is experimental.
Perhaps some of the law folks here might want to comment on that.
Covid is not the flu. It may have similar mortality but is a very different clinical entity. having worked with it for nearly a year now and will be working with it for much longer I choose to do what i can to avoid bringing it home to those I love. You have different motivations which is understandable. But covid is not influenza
My problem is this... why does either side have to belittle the other for their choice? Why call people crackpots and everything else if someone chooses “NO, I would rather see how this plays out” or “NO, I do not agree with vaccines”. The people who chose the vaccine are covered, right? I mean that is what we are told...those taking a vaccine (whichever one that may be) are now immune so what is the big deal if another chooses to go another way? They will have to deal with whatever their decision leads to but it shouldn’t be any big deal to those who fully support and take vaccines so why the name calling?

I have not belittled anyone. The only ones I call crackpot are those spreading hysteria and false information. I agree and have always said the vaccine is a matter of individual choice and everyone has to do their own risk benefit analysis. I sincerely hope everyone’s choice works out for them

Take it, don't take it; that's up to you. I have no desire to see anyone forced against their will. But make that decision based on FACTS not FEAR and not NONSENSE spouted by ignorant alarmists with zero comprehension of reality.
