I am in agreement with you. People use the ballot box without regard for actual governmental functions. Instead they use the ballot box to receive gifts from the treasury. Whatever politician will promise more redistribution is the one they vote for!
Yep, its basically buying votes.
But, as Margaret Thatcher famously said “Eventually you run out of other peoples’ money.” Gonna be real ugly when that happens. Our politicians will try to place the blame somewhere else.

I’m the one paying this massive freaking bill, jerk! I don’t get any representation from the government because I am “too rich”. I don’t get a check. I don’t get my vote counted. I don’t get squat but a big freaking bill!
You’ll excuse us if we no longer give employees pay increases for the next 5 years or tip at a restaurant. I’ve got that freaking bill to pay.
There’s nothing relevant in the statement. Presidents try to do this all the time, Congress ignores it.
