The emissions purportedly caused by those tiny messages pales in comparison with the emissions resulting from the uproarious laughter caused by his article, not to mention the emissions he generated in the production and we in our reading thereof.
BTW, a tiny thank-you message is far better off emissions-wise than a snail-mail thank-you card. In fact, we should all be entitled to carbon credits for each email that replaces those cards.
Soon they will all be flying into Davos in their private aircraft to discuss how they can fight climate change.

Think about it. Average people don’t need to be able to communicate with each other essentially free. They could and should be charged by the word for messages, just like in the good old days of telegrams. If it’s really important, pay the government money to send the message, otherwise, just shut the hell up.
Besides being ‘good for the planet’ this will free up resources, like highways, electricity, and gasoline for those doing the peoples’ work—our government workers and leaders. They sure didn’t have traffic jams in the U.S.S.R. back in the day, and look how clean and safe the streets are in North Korea! And you don’t see the Norks walking around with their faces in their phones do you?
