“And we all cheered it on.”

Sadly, I think you are correct. I recall when Bush first started those endless wars. Here at FR 99% were on the “lets go to war” band wagon. When obama was saying he’d bring the troops home, I bet 90% here were opposed to it.

In Trump’s term, I’d say there are still many arguing to keep the troops overseas, but the percentage is minimal.

Point being, for 16 of the 20 years we’ve been at war, FReepers were cheering it on.

It’s hilarious that some people think that by not sending out stimulus checks that money will instead be saved! Hilarious! It’s going into somebody’s pocket either way.

I am embarrassed to say that 15 years ago I was all for the invasion of both Iraq and Afghanistan. I thought we would be in and out. I was then convinced that now that we are there lets give them reperesenitive democracy. I bought into just about every thing the neoconservative with in the republican party sold me. I was young and dumb. There will always be reasons to go to war. we need to understand that we dont need to invade and stay. we use the military only to establish an objective that’s it. Today it would be hard to convince me of the need to invade a small country. I believe that a strong military is a must and if we use that military it means we have a failure of leadership with in the executive branch.

I cannot stand Bill Clinton, but he was not always wrong. He did say 9-11 was terrorist related and should be treated as such by going after the terrorists themselves.

At that time I believed he was right. Simply because the Afghan nation itself did not harm us. What really threw me for a loop was including Iraq in this game based on WMD’s. I kept my mouth shut and went along because the Bush administration said there was an exit strategy to those opposing the war.

It all turned out to be a crock of crap. There were no WMD’s. It’s impossible to defeat the Taliban. What we did do was destabilize the ME and enhance Iran’s power. We have been feeding the military industrial complex and allowing the swamp to just grow and get richer.

Trump is trying to undo much of this. I pray to the Lord he is successful in being the one inaugurated Jan 20th.

agreed except that at one time there was WMD it was moved out of Iraq and into Syria before we even invaded. I believe Israel bombed out of existence. I am a news junky that has always moniterd everything. I will admit this is an interpretation of what I read in the news and so it is possible I am just wrong on this because it is just an opinion analysis

The checks should go out.

They will help the people and by extension they will help the economy.

There is no good reason to block them.

Governments made it harder for businesses and individuals to make money so the least that governments do is compensate for that.

If the Republicans block help that people need, in order to posture, people will hate them and vote them out and then the resulting Democratic majority will spend a lot more.

Save $1200 per person now, piss people off and lose the Senate, and then lose trillions of dollars funneled to blue areas by Democrats.

Ron Johnson shows how The Stupid Party nickname is earned.

I am a life long accounting/bookkeeping person.

IF a working person got UNEMPLOYMENT -—which is about 60% of their normal pay AND got a weekly additional $600 a week-—I have at a loss to understand HOW these people could NOT pay their rent or mortgage.

For a person making $100,000 annually-—that is about $1900 weekly. If unemployment is paying 60% of that, that net amount is about $1140. Add the $600 on top of that, that amount is about $1740. WEEKLY !!!!!

Since a formerly working person is NOT:
using any gas
Paying any tolls
Buying any lunches
Paying cleaning bills on wardrobes
Replacing worn out wardrobe items.....

To my experience, this person is doing VERY well, and should have been paying rent / mortgage payments on time.

WHERE did their $$$$$ go during these lock downs???

I have NO sympathy for any of them. IF they are smart enough to make that kind of money-—they should be smart enough to pay their ills like normal.

The most I EVER grossed working full time in my entire life was UNDER $65,000 a year.

I own my property, all vehicles, all personal items, etc.

Someone needs training about how to spend $$$ when times are rough.

no checks should go out to anyone considered an ‘essential’ worker (we are told they are 90 million strong), anyone employed by any govt, work at homes being paid by their employer, or anyone on govt assistance already, including social security and welfare/AFDC recepients. If a person already has a steady source of income they don’t need an extra check. Take care of those small business owners and their laid-off employees instead who are the subjects of illegal ‘taking’ by their state and county governments and then recap that money from the state and county governments out of future federal fund disbursements (which keeps accountability for lockdowns local). Businesses like the French Laundry, which received 8x what other local businesses received, and took advantage of the sponteniety of the forgivable loan program should be excluded from any future loans. It’s stupid to disburse money to every breathing soul whether they need it or not. And equally stupid not to go after, with full force, those businesses who grabbed funds they were not entitled to, at the expense of small businesses left without funding.

Ask yourself WHY the prisoners got UNEMPLOYMENT....Possibly as much as $8 BILLION in Calif alone.

Any application for UNemployment should include verification from the EMPLOYER.....

WHO VERIFIED those payments????

Newsom cannot run a state cleanly-—and he wants to be President.

We’ve all been deceived by politicians who we trusted because of the “R” or “conservative” attached to their name. I never fully trusted the Bush fam tho ;their snotty little rich bitch elitist spoiled brat attitude nauseated me.
And I always disagreed with the “nation building” & exporting democracy. We should have just turned Afghanistan into glass & come home.
It’s a palpable anger I feel when I think of the slime “conservative” politicians that betrayed our trust. May they reap the treachery they’ve sown.

“We’ve all been deceived by politicians who we trusted because of the “R” or “conservative” attached to their name.”

The point you are making is exceptionally valid in today’s election fraud crisis. So few “R’s” are standing up for election integrity. It’s just unbelievable.

There is massive fraud on so many levels in so many states, yet these “R’s” are just pretending it does not exist.

If the Republican party allows this voter fraud to stand as a fairly run election which permits the inauguration of a communist regime, then the nation and both parties are doomed.

January 6th is the date that should force this bunch to show their hands.

Maybe I’m just dense but it boggles my mind that Repukes cannot see the threat. How is that possible???
Are they that enslaved to deep state easy living??
And my senators Bill Cassidy & John Kennedy were questioned by reporters in separate interviews, both basically said “votes counted & verified. Election is over.”
Cowards.
Yet brag about going to DC & getting money for hurricanes, floods & LA coastal rebuilding. Which is great & needed & Trump worked with them & got the money.
And they stab him in the back!
And Cassidy was just re-elected Nov 3 by 66%. Feel like I wasted my vote.

Agree with you. Checks/vouchers should somehow be targeted towards restaurants, small businesses and those most affected by lockdowns and regulations. The money can’t be spent for anything else and has an expiry date of 90 days.
