Are you and others here on FR mistaking “bootleggers” for “moonshiners”?
Bootleggers smuggled in the “real” stuff, while moonshiners made their own, which was sometimes dangerous to drink.
JFK’s father was a bootlegger who smuggled good stuff into the US from Canada and made tons of $$$.
“Why wouldn’t it be drinkable?”
Some distilled spirits can turn rancid tasting & cloudy over time. Particularly true with lower proofs. It’s not so much the alcohol itself, but the additives, coloring, etc.
Yep. ...Boston Blackie, Charlie Chan, The Honeymooners, etc.
Once.😁
Nick Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitznick.
Any money found from the sale of the booze?
“did they start singing 66 bottles on the wall’?”
They preferred to sing it the traditional way, so they turned the 66 upside down and got 99 bottles... :)
