Why don’t the states change birth certificates to include all the relevant info, such as:
Parents (limit 2):
biological mother
conception method
delivery method
biological father
adoptive mother
adoptive father
adoptive trans/nonbinary
Relationship between parties numbered above:
woman married to biological father
man married to biological mother
married trans or nonbinary (specify) to party numbered herein
woman unmarried to other numbered herein
man unmarried to other numbered above
egg donor unmarried to other numbered above
sperm donor unmarried to other numbered above
unrelated adoptive mother (limit 1 in relation to other numbered above)
unrelated adoptive father (limit 1 in relation to other numbered above)
unrelated adoptive trans or nonbinary (limit 1 in relation to other numbered above)
“Box”...Uh huh huh, eh heh heh heh.
>> But the legalities may well be decided differently than what the biological facts are.

Oops! I forgot another category:
Surrogate gestational provider, paid
Surrogate gestational provider, unpaid
>>are fighting the state of Indiana to have both partners be recognized as “parents” on birth certificates.
That is bad science and offers misleading medical history.
